Anyone know about schools in Ft. Totten area?

Don't hear much about them, but if anyone goes to school in the Ft. Totten vicinity, can you tell me about your school? I'm south of the neighborhood, but wondering if commuting there might be easier than into town.

P.S. Should have mentioned that I'm looking for preschool programs.

Lasalle? Perry Street Prep? Sela? The first two aren't discussed at all, but you can find many threads on Sela.

I would recommend Capital City.

Fort totten is the next up and coming area. Homes are affordable still (bungalows for under $300k), attached even cheaper. You could actually get your child into a pres3 program over there. In a couple of years it will be like Petworth or Shaw. Good luck!

Look into Inspired Teaching PCS and Lee Montessori PCS; both are moving (Lee is opening) in Edgewood which is a couple of small neighborhoods to the south (still in Ward 5). LAMB PCS, Mundo Verde PCS, Stokes PCS, and Sela PCS are all language immersion schools in that side of DC. We live in Ward 5 and are very happy that our child goes to one of the above schools.

I heard DC Bilingual may be moving there, too.

CAPCS has a great Reggio Emilio preschool program in Ft. Totten. I think it's called Amos II. I considered sending my child there, but the reverse commute was too much.

Op here. thanks for the replies and the reminder about Amos 2. Wanted to check that one. Anyone else know about a potential DC bilingual move?

For what school? DC Bilingual? Maybe not to Ft. Totten, but this is the last year on their lease. The principal said at an event I attended that they would have to move.

Good luck finding anything in the area for less than 300. Bungalows start at 400.
