No way in hell! No parent should send their child to LaSalle.

We recently moved to the Lamond Riggs neighborhood which is near the Ft. Totten metro in the new residential neighborhood The Hampshires (see http://www.washingtonpost.com/realestate/the-hampshires-offers-new-townhouses-and-single-family-homes-in-northeast-washington/2014/01/02/935e579c-611a-11e3-bf45-61f69f54fc5f_story.html).

We did a lot of research on nearby schools and applied to (and got into) Yu Ying, Cap City, Stokes, Sela, and Imagine Hope Lamond for Kindergarten this year so we ended up with lots of great options for schools (despite a lot of stress during the application period and waitlist drama). There are other schools nearby but would not recommend most of them.

She asked about the schools in the area so I named a few.

Lucky you for your lottery picks and those lovely houses.

Didn't Muriel Bowser grow up around there? Where did she go to school?

Yes she grew up in Riggs Park and still lives there.

She grew up in North Michigan Park where her parents still live. She's lived in Riggs Park since ~2000. She went to Catholic schools throughout.

Good luck finding anything in the area for less than 300. Bungalows start at 400.

+1

+2! I was just going to ask where these 300k bungalows were located. lol
