any suggestions for an inexpensive place to get hair colored?

I am in a financial situation where spending 75 plus tip every month is making a big impact on my budget. (I went gray early and I have to color it every 4 weeks minimum) I have been super messy doing at home in the past so I was hoping for something in the middle of a box from home and the expensive salon. I would be willing to go to someone's home who does it for less there or whatever-Any ideas or recommendations??

Aveda has a training salon downtown on 7th street near the MCI/Verizon Center. I went there once. Fortunately a supervisor inspects all the work before they let you leave the place, because apparently my trainee stylist initially did a sloppy job trimming my hair in the back. But it was all good in the end.

I use Hair Cuttery in Herndon, VA, for cuts and brushing. Last year I had color but it wasn't happy. When I arrived at the salon, I clearly explained what I wanted to my stylist, but she ended up doing what whe wanted. What is worst is that my wedding was going to be in my country of origin in less than a month. Fortunately, the color wasn't that strong after a few weeks and I had one of the best hair stylists in my country.
In Washington DC, I had light color at Salon Mirabella (almost across the Zoo) some years ago. They specialize in color. I'm not sure if still exist.

OP do you have a friend or fellow mom who can do yours and you do hers?

Just ask around. I always assumed my "rich" friends were spending the big bucks and were shocked to find that a few of them have great "bargain" hairstylists. It never hurts to ask.

Go to Bubbles in Landmark Mall and ask for Estela, she chaerges 50 for roots with shampoo, conditioner and blowdry and she is the best, very calm and patient and nice.

I used to go to pr and partners and honestly they are great but roots, partial highlights and haircut ran for 200 or more, its ridiculous, no wonder I looked like a beauty queen in South America I can do the same for 50 but well I live here so I only pay 100 for the 3 at Bubbles not bad huh??

I go to the Bubbles in Bethesda on Wisconsin and pay $50 for color and blow dry - I think a cut/trim is $20 extra.

I also go to Bubbles in Bethesda. A great haircut can be had for $35. I don't get my hair colored, but I'm sure it can be done for under $100.
