any suggestions for an inexpensive place to get hair colored?

I have been a big fan of Hair Cutter but they raised their prices to $40 for a touch up plus another $10 for a long hair surcharge for my shoulder length hair. This does NOT include blow dry.

My husband and I own Salon Khouri in Fairfax, VA. We have a very strong apprenticeship and training program within our salon. We offer services with our apprentices for 50% off the service (non-bridal updos, haircuts, colors, and foils only). The service is monitored by a stylist. It's a win-win for clients and the apprentices... it's a way for apprentices to receive hands experience under close supervision and it's a way for clients to receive excellent services in a high-end salon for half the price. Our website is www.salonkhouri.com

Thanks! I wish Fairfax was convenient for me but I'm in Rockville and it just isn't since someone watches my son when I go to get my hair done and it takes long enough as it is just going nearby.

Just tried Fringe Hair Studio on Wisconsin and P in Georgetown and had my hair colored for $55. They did a great job for a great price for Georgetown.

Tip for all you ladies...never go the inexpensive route on hair color...save on diapers with a coupon or something.

Fortunately a supervisor inspects all the work before they let you leave the place, because apparently my trainee stylist initially did a sloppy job trimming my hair in the back. But it was all good in the end.

Let me second this. I just had a very good partial foil at the Aveda Institute for $54. The trainee was tentative, but she was supervised and it turned out just fine.

I haven't had anything done at the Aveda Institute, but my salon has hired their recent graduates. My stylists have told me some "The first time I did..." stories that always include specific instructions from their supervisors. I would have good confidence going there.
