Love some input. My OB is recommending a copper IUD (no hormones) moving forward. However I've read that birth control pills can reduce risk of certain cancers. Or should I opted for getting tubes tied...or urge DH to have the procedure. TIA
39 and looking for same info. We've been charting to avoid. We're done--100% certain we don't want a third, and I think the odds of an oops with natural family planning are too high.
Vasectomy.
Love my IUD. Did you bf? same benefit re breast cancer as with the pill (it's the avoided cycling that reduces the risk).
Vasectomy is probably best because it's less invasive for you. But, if he can't or won't do it, get a tubal. I love not having to worry about birth control. I love getting just regular periods - not periods affected by hormonal based bc or copper or whatever. I just love not having to think about it.
Vasectomy for him, and then endometrial ablation for you so you don't have to deal with all of the monthly headaches anymore!
|
Vasectomy is most effective.
I just had my Paragard taken out. Too much bleeding and pain for me. (I tried it for 1 year.) |
OP here - thx for the feedback. I'm thinking tubal ligation is the best option with the least long term hassle. I will need to see if BCBS PPO covers the cost. What's the recovery like?
OP again - as for vasectomy...is that less invasive? Heck, if I have birth to two kids he could manage a little discomfort. What specialist performs the surgery? Any recos in Arlington?
Urology
I don't have local recommendations, but yes, a vasectomy is much less invasive than a tubal ligation. GL. |
Vasectomy--MUCH less invasive than tubal. The urologist does it in his office with local anesthetic. Tubal ligation is laparoscopic surgery.
^^meant to say: tubal is laparoscopic surgery with general anesthesia.
DH's vasectomy was the best present I ever got.
40 here and happy with my paraguard.
