My DH had a vasectomy about 4 years ago. It's been awesome. I was 33 and he was 36.
What about Essure if DH won't do a vasectomy? |
| I had a tubal performed my last c-section birth. I have never once regretted it. So nice not to have to worry about birth control ever again. |

BC pills lower the risk of ovarian cancer--up to 40%.
My grandmother died from this so my mother, my sister and my GYN (all different) recommended remaining on a low dose one all the way to menopause. I read it also helps the transition. |
I had vaginal deliveries so did not consider tubal since it would require general an./ surgery. |
|
I did Essure as a 40th b-day gift. Closed down shop. I wanted to enter the change - "naturally" after nearly 20 years of hormones.
BCBS Fed Basic did not cover as much as they said they would when I researched. Of course only been 6 months and still getting off hormones - or maybe I'm entering the change - because I sure miss the clockwork-ness of the pill! |

Vasectomy if he'll consider it, but make sure he does all the followup or you could end up pregnant again.
If he won't consider it, look at a Mirena or Paragard. I've had Mirena for about 1.5 years now and have been very happy with it. I'm done having kids, but wasn't quite ready to get my tubes tied at 40, and my doc wanted me off the pill after 40. |
+1 |
| Vasectomy. |
| Vasectomy. I just had to have my Paraguard pulled after 6 months. The back pain was unrelenting and my GI suspects that it played a role in some crazy scary gastro symptoms that I've been having. Takes 2-3 weeks for the copper to clear. |
Me too. |
At the same time though, the pill slightly increases the risk of breast cancer while you are on it. At least that's what my OB told me. |
|
Para guard works for me. After a year, the cramping and spotting greatly diminished.
I have breast cancer, just diagnosed last month. It is hormone positive, which means that estrogen & progesterone "feed" the growth of the cancer. I'm 42, no family history, very healthy lifestyle. I was, however, on the pill for years and years. I do wonder if there is a connection with my breast cancer. |
My DH got one for Mothers Day. I love him. |
This is what my doc told me too....plus some other risks. |
Another happy Mirena user here. |
