| My 1.5 year old DC is a picky eater. Any tips for lunch and dinner foods that include vegetables? Any luck with veggie omlettes, etc.? |
| Roast the veggies in olive oil with some pepper and other seasoning, and give as finger foods. Also, canned chickpeas - either plain or roasted are very popular with our toddler. |
| How does an 18 mos old get to be "picky"? Please elaborate. |
Not the OP but my 20 month old throws any food that he doesn't "like," so yes, I believe an 18 month old can be a picky eater. |

Offer what you are eating. He will try it if that's his only option. We do a lot of pitas at our house. I put cheese or hummus, veggies and chicken/beef in the pita pocket and toast it lightly. My toddler loves it. I've also had success with bell peppers. They are crunchy and slightly sweet.
Have you offered cucumbers? Many toddlers like those to. The roasting veggies is also a good idea. |

I have that problem with my 22mo (he's been picky for several months now). It's so frustrating.
A couple recipes he's liked recently are Oatmeal Pancakes, and rice and beans. Also, he likes dipping into hummus and guacamole (usually just licks the dip off of the cracker, but at least he's eating it), diced avocado with a bit of salt and lemon juice (not too mushy), omelets, french toast, frozen meatballs, baby peas...he'll eat them if they're really salty. Oatmeal pancakes: http://www.superhealthykids.com/healthy-kids-recipes/super-duper-oatmeal-pancakes-50-giveaway-included.php beans and rice (I use canned beans and add taco seasoning): http://www.superhealthykids.com/healthy-kids-recipes/5-minute-black-beans-and-rice-with-freezer-beans.php |
| RE: rice and beans recipe..it's huge. I make half. |
Do you have kids, PP? Because my 11 month old will refuse to eat certain foods no matter how many times I try to introduce them or what form I introduce them in. She won't touch hummus, red pepper, peas, peanut butter, avocado, or green beans. But she will eat pears, bananas, oatmeal, apples, and sweet potatoes all day long. I mean, what, are parents supposed to force their babies' mouths open or something? Of course babies can be picky. |
| Meatballs is a great suggestion PP! I make turkey ones with shredded carrots. I bake them in a mini muffin tin, which my toddler thinks is funny. |

In the same boat. I keep meaning to look up Paleo toddler/baby suggestions or paleo baby led weaning (for more suggestions). We're not paleo, but I thought it might have a lot of good suggestions. I feel like we're always flying by the seat of our pants. This book looks like it might have snack ideas: http://www.amazon.com/Paleo-Kid-Snacks-Recipes-Cookbook-ebook/dp/B00CAZGOZI/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=8-1&qid=1388339360
What I find really hard is adapting to a picky eater when I work. Some days, she doesn't want any of the food that I've left for her and the nanny doesn't understand enough to be able to whip up anything really quick. So, she ends up eating the same thing all day. Or, she's eaten 3 bananas and 3 teething cookies. |
| The nanny doesn't understand enough to feed your child? |
Not to the point when DD won't eat any of the 2-3 meal choices with meat and veggies would she stop and cook something. No, she doesn't cook. |
Please elaborate on how you got to be a world-class jerk. |

I found these at Whole Foods - awesome, awesome for getting great veggies into my toddler. We have all the varieties and we serve them with soups or cold cuts, chunks of cheese and fruit. They are really delicious.
