I am making low 50s and she is making low 30s. Son is about 2 years. What would be the estimate monthly child support be full or shared custody estimates please? And the child support cost will increase when the child goes to daycare correct?
Thanks in advance! |
| Which jurisdiction? |
| Martland has online calculators. |
| Montgomery county |
Maryland has online calculators. |
| Op here, checked out the online calculator. However, can someone who is currently paying child support and give me a ball park? |
| OP, it's impossible to tell. Depends on whose health insurance covers the child, depends on exact custody situation, etc. There's no way anyone can give you a ballpark using their own circumstances. |
| Use the online calculator! Sometimes you actually have to work at something to get the answer. Figure it out. |
He's not going to make it on low 50s with child support either. They will both likely need roommates. OP day care will be at least $800 a month in MoCo. Theoretically you are on the hook for at least $500 of that alone. |
Thanks for estimate. So, it would be more if my son goes to daycare right? Currently not going he is only 2 |
If both work, where is he during that time? Have the two of you been able to stagger your work schedules so that one of you is always home with him? |

Shared custody, ass little as $400 a month, all other expenses 50/50.
Full custody, $800, all other expenses 50/50. Based on experience in DC.I make $20k, but I didn't ask for the $400 since we have shared custody. The judge "made him" and I didn't disagree.I'm putting the $400 into 529 plan and take the deduction. He makes about $50k. |
Yes. Why the hesitation with the child support calculator? It's all pretty straightforward. It's a percentage based formula. If you split custody, you will pay a higher percentage of your son's needs because you make more. The formula only changes for certain major expenses like health insurance, day care, and pre-existing child support obligations to other children. |

Isn't is possible that OP could owe the other parent child support if custody is split?
|
Yes. Isn't that what the post right above it said? |
