Can you verify "I have cancer" thread is coming from Virginia?

Just wondering. People are starting to offer help and money and fulfilling an amazon gift list and the cynical side of me wonders if the OP is a faker posting fake suggestions to help with amazon and then real people will start to donate and then...

I really can't say either way. I can say that there is no evidence that the OP is sock puppetting. It appears that she is posting from a hospital, though I can be 100% sure. There is lots of evidence that she is a single mom with a job that doesn't pay a whole lot. She also posted this thread the same day as the "cancer" thread:

So the OP posted the "I just want to go home" thread the morning of the 19th, saying that they were doing a biopsy of her lymph nodes to figure out what's wrong. That evening she posted the "I have cancer" thread, presumably after receiving the biopsy results. Seems like it might be legit.

Interestingly enough, a mom in our local moms group was just caught in a cancer scam. They raised 10k for her but turns out she's healthy and quite active - she claimed being terminally ill and someone spotted her shopping at whole Foods.

When they say they're terminally ill connected to machines in the hospital they've worked their entire lives crying about not seeing family for days in a row? I guess it should be impossible.

Anyway, the police got involved and she deleted all her online accounts. She disappeared and another mom from the group who's a nurse at the hospital this lady claimed to be an employee said there was never a receptionist by that name.

I guess soon enough we will know if she indeed is sick.

I've been in this moms hospital room. If this is a scam, it's very very elaborate.
