I am currently working as a contractor at a Federal Agency and my annual salary is $126K. The office I am working in has posted a GS14 position that I am considering applying for. If I were to be selected, would they be able to match my salary? From what I see here - https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/salaries-wages/2013/general-schedule/washington-baltimore-northern-virginia-dc-md-va-wv-pa-annual-rates-by-grade-and-step/ - that would either be a GS 14, Step 7 or GS15, Step 2. How do government agencies typically handle this? |
| The real answer is that it depends, but yes, it is possible to come in higher than a step one. |

posting the same question twice in one day is kind of obnoxious
