The entire K class (23 students) is giving the teacher a $100 gift card and a card for the Holidays. Does this seem too little? What amount is your class collecting to give the teacher? |
Each school and even each class within the school is very different. You can only give what you have collected. My class has 250 to give, but I know another k class (same school) that only collected 100. I am going to assume that teacher will just get more individual gifts and not worry about it. |
Maybe it's a low-income school. |
It's the thought that counts. |
Where do people live who are giving $100 to their kindergarten teacher as a class gift and worrying that it's too little? |
OP here. We raised $400 to go towards gifts for the teacher (birthday, end of yr, winter holiday). The room parents decided to give $100 to the teacher and save the remaining for the other gifts later in the year. |
I've never been the room mom but I've always wondered how much is collected. For preschool, I was always given a guideline and I really liked that. But for school, I just sort if guess what is appropriate. I give $50 and expect that it is splt between the teacher, the aide, and the special teachers |
I think maybe they share a little with whatever aids or specials, but holding it ack for other events stinks. Overstepping! Tell them to loosen their reins a little. |
We are giving $500 to the teacher and almost as much to the assistant. |
PP, the room parents are not overstepping in anyway. They plan to give the most at the end of the year. |
Do the room parents not like the teacher? I think it's poor planning to ask parents to contribute only once for the entire year. Who has tons of money to spare right before Christmas? |
My jaw dropped. |
Poor plan, IMO. Who thought of that? And why? |
Everyone in the school did it that way, apparently. |
Why should the room parents be holding class (teacher) money until June? Makes no sense. $100 at holiday time is embarrassing. |
