| We make between 180K and 210K depending on the year and are looking to buy in the WJ cluster (Wyngate/Ashburton/KPES elementary). We would like to be in a place where we would fit in both socio economically and with the community. Are we a lot poorer than the families who live there? |
| No. |
| I'd say you're about average, at least for the neighborhoods that feed into Wyngate ES. Our HHI was $165,000 when we moved here. Less now that I've been laid off. There are many tear downs in the 1.3-1.5 million range that would require a HHI of yours or more. We bought an existing split and live very comfortably on our income. |
| I think you are totally average in KPES. At least that is based on people I know in the community and their respective jobs. |
| Well the median HHI in MoCo is a little less than 100K, so I doubt you will be the poor people. |
Not in bethesda I would say you are mid to low mid |
| We make about 265k and can't afford a house there. |
| You could afford a house there, just maybe not the one you dream of. |
In the WJ cluster? |
|
who cares? do you post that on your front door? We are probably known as the lower end of things in bethesda because of the house we have the cars we drive, etc
yet we have a hhi of over 300 no need to worry about what you make vs others. |
| According to one source, median income in Bethesda is $185K, median home price is $740K. |
Seriously. Who would buy a house over 1M with a $190K income? |
|
How about something like this?
http://franklymls.com/MC9002582 Super cute, and $600K is not bad for an updated house in a good school district. |

OP,
People live beyond their means in this area. We make about $210 combined and refused to buy a home over $600K. In fact, we purchased one for $550K. It needs some work, but my husband, who's handy, is ready to blow up the master bath. So I'd say you're doing much better than many and are clearly comfortable if you live w/in your means. |
