I'm 9 months pregnant and would like to order some food/fruit gift baskets for myself timed to arrive when DS 2 is born in the next few weeks.
I was just looking on the Cherry Moon Farms website but I'm not too impressed. Which company do you use to send your food/fruit gift baskets during the holiday season? |
| You want to send them to yourself? Why? |
We have no friends or family in the area so I will not have any support when the baby is born and I'm not going to want to cook in the first few weeks...so I was looking for some fresh fruit, cheese, food baskets so that I could relax, nurse the baby and without pulling my hair out over what I'm going to eat every day. |
| Lol how crazy |
That's not nice pp. |
| Honestly just go to the grocery store and stock up on cheese, crackers, pears, apples and some nice cheese spreads. You will pay 50-70 percent more if you order a harry londens basket that contains the same stuff. |
| Okay, so not so much on the "gift" aspect of the basket (even thought I love a hillshire farms summer sausage). Could you do a grocery delivery service? Where are you located? |

I like Harry and David. Something like this might be nice:

| Zingerman's. It is so good and you will totally appreciate your generosity! |
I'm in Alexandria Va. We have limited freezer/fridge space and we go grocery shopping once per week for foods to eat during that week. We just really dont have enough room to stock up a few weeks in advance and I was hoping to avoid having to go into the grocery store once the baby arrives with a 2 yr old and a newborn. |
| Totally understand not having family in the area. To be honest, most of the food baskets I've received have been overpriced and not tasty. Who wants a $7 box of crackers? I'd go to the grocery store and stock up on the non perishables you like. Some cheeses can last awhile in the fridge. In terms of fruits, in the beginning if you want, send yourself a Harry and David or an Edible Fruit arrangement. Otherwise, after that, just ask DH to stop at the grocery store on his way home from work to get you a few pieces of fruit or whatever else you crave. Good luck. |

| We also use Zingerman's for gifts. |
| Harry and David fruit is wonderful. No one has ever thought to send me a gift like that, getting for myself might be a good idea. |
| Harry and David are good for fruit, but iirc their cheeses are usually of the heavily processed variety. |
