| My realtor invited us to her Christmas party. The invitations said "gifts", so should I take it to mean that she expects some? What should I do/bring? She's really nice and helped us get our great house, so I wouldn't want to insult her in any way. Plus I would feel weird showing up empty handed, but I don't know what she likes at all! Thoughts? |
| That is so very weird. It just said "gifts"? |
|
No it was a lovely card that had swirly script and said like "music/food/dancing/gifts".
My husband thinks its maybe for the kids? Like the kids will get like goody bag or something? We are not from this country, so that's another reason why I'm asking. |
| bring some flowers or wine |
| It means she's giving them out. Party favors. No need to bring anything yourself - - maybe a bottle of wine. |
| Like bouquet of flowers or potted orchid/poinsettia? |
|
Sure. That's a fine gesture.
Sounds nice. Enjoy. I wouldn't take it as given that kids are invited. |
| Realtors usually throw really nice parties for their clients. I'm sure she'll be the one giving you gifts so I wouldn't feel obligated to bring anything...unless you wanted to bring her a typical hostess gift, like flowers or a bottle of wine. |
Duh, OP. |
| Yeah, seriously. This means the realtor is giving out goodie bags TO YOU. Do you think you're also supposed to bring the music? |
|
Bring some nice gifts for your realtor. They always appreciate some empty placards or card-printing vouchers - tape measures also go down well.
For the dancing, make sure you have a few signature moves down. You might want to watch a couple of classic 80s videos for inspirations - I would suggest "Thriller" or "Uptown Girl". Please report back. |

Out of context your post made it sound like the Realtor was a real asshole OP. But in context, exactly what PP said - She's giving out gifts. Not you have to bring one. |
I think your realtor wants you to bring music or food or perform a dance or gifts. Just choose one or two. |
|
Op here.
I thought it meant a gift exchange and didn't want to do the wrong thing. Again, I'm not from this country so I don't understand every tradition. |
