Another girl's name thread

What do you guys think of Valerie? Too old fashioned? Not old fashioned enough? DH and I like it, but I'm not sure it fits with the current generation of names.

I like it!

You know it's not my taste, but I have no real objections to it. It's not in style, exactly, but it's not out of style like Hortense. Rock on, Valerie's mom.

Very nice!

I like it. You can call her Val. It's cute.

I really like this name and would have considered it, but it doesn't go at all with our last name. Go for it!

I really like it. Reminds me of the Amy Winehouse song.

Like it. We have Czech friends who named their daughter Valerie (pronounced VAL-er-ee-uh) a year ago. I wouldn't worry about it fitting in with the "current generation" of names--that's way to hard to define. It's a nice name that's not super-trendy and not way out of date.

I really like it. My cousin has a 7 year old Valerie and I think it's such a sweet name.

It's not really my style, but I think it is a nice name and it's unlikely there will be 3 other Valeries in her class. Great choice!

Love it! I agree it strikes a nice balance that the pp mentioned.

Good choice! Most people would not expect it, but it does not veer too far from today's names.

I'm not a huge fan of Valerie but I do think it strikes a nice balance of classic but not overly popular. It may be a little dated but not so much that I'd rule it out.
