Question About a 14 lb Frozen Turkey

Anonymous
When do I take the turkey out of the freezer to thaw it out in time to start cooking on Thanksgiving morning?

How many hours does it need to thaw?

What is the best method to thaw it out?

This morning, now, immediately.

Yep. It's needs to be in the fridge now.

You should already be thawing! In the fridge or in a cooler packed with ice.

If you're thawing in the fridge, you need a lot of lead time. If you end up being worried it won't thaw in time, put it in a large cooler or tub of water. It thaws massively faster in water than in air. If you're really desperate, that under slowly circulating water (e.g. put it under a faucet or hose and let water drip onto it). This last method takes a tiny fraction of the time that defrosting in a refrigerator does.

Yesterday. That not being a possibility, RIGHT NOW.
