10k wwyd

DH and I signed up for a 10k tomorrow. He was planning to push DS (2) in the stroller. I am training for a half marathon in feb. I am not a very good runner but am following a plan and ran 6 miles last week. So I can probably run the whole thing but just not sure about temos in the 20s and 30 mph winds. DH is a better runner but he pretty much signed up for the race to support me. So what would you do - bundle DS up and all 3 of us run according to plan? DH runs and I stay home with DS? I run and DH stays home with DS? DH hates wasting money so there's that too... But our entry fees are a sunk cost at this point so I know that shouldn't be a factor.

I think you should both do it, if you can. You guys will be running, so you will both be pretty warm. The challenge is what to do with the child, since they won't have the benefit of exercising for warmth. Can anyone watch him?

OP here - yeah the question is more whether it's crazy to have DS out tomorrow am. We really don't have anyone that could watch him.

It's last minute, but could you run out to somewhere like Target this evening and see if they have a weather shield for the stroller?
I'd probably just bundle up my kid and both run, but she's weird and loves the wind and cold anyway.

We have a bundle me and can out him in snow pants, coat, etc. just wondering if we can keep hi warm enough give the forecast. I am asking a friend to see if she'd be willing to watch him.

We've got the Girls on the Run 5k tomorrow out at Jiffy Lube Live. Completely dreading it because of the weather. And having to wake up at like 5:30 to get there.

I was thinking the same as PP--get some type of plastic cover for the stroller if you don't already have one.

Sounds miserable for the kid in the stroller.

Nah. You're kid will be fine if you bundle him up. A wind/rain protector for the stroller (plastic cover) would be best if you can run to target and grab one.

What does your DH want to do? I personally would want DH to stay home with DS while I run.

Bundle the kid up and do the run as a family.

OP here. My friend is coming over to watch DS so we are both running. Too bad, I was looking for an excuse . DH really wanted to run as a family but in the end he came around to thinking the 20s was too cold for DS.

OP please follow up and tell us how you do!

I understand leaving your 2 yo home but good for you for being a great role model and including your child in a life of healthy living.

If you run with the stroller, use a rain cover. It keeps the wind out. You can also get those hand warmers and tuck them near his feet.
