My son is in preschool and they are having a small "lunch" in their class next week to celebrate Thanksgiving. There are only 6 children, 2 teachers and perhaps a handful of parents. I am supposed to bring "slices of turkey". Any ideas on where I can get just a small amount of good, but not too expensive turkey? It might not even get eaten really (if the other kids are anything like mine!). New to the area and new to TG (not American).
Thanks for any advice. |
| Um... the deli counter in any grocery store? |
| Try trader joes. |

Don't get deli turkey!!! You could cook a small breast and bring in slices of that.
|
| whole foods is pricey for it, but they have a cooked turkey breast that they slice at the deli. real roasted turkey, not processed "lunch meat". a few other groceries will have the same, but some not. I agree, no deli lunch meat!! boston market the lunch/dinner chain would have some as well. |
This is a good suggestion. You could freeze leftovers. |
I hoped this was a joke but apparently it is not because someone else agrees with you! |
| Just get deli turkey. The kids don't care. Like you said they may not even eat it. |
| I would cook a small breast if I didn't want to spend money on the Whole Foods ready-made turkey slices. |
+1 |
| Boston Market or Honeybaked ham could probably plate a couple of slices. |
| For six kids, you get deli turkey. Two or three years will not care if it is organic, came from Whole Foods or if you cooked it yourself. |
Agree. |
| Costco has good thick turkey slices |
+ 1 more Cooking a turkey breast is a lot of work for a preschool project where the kids may not eat it anyway. Most grocery store delis, incl. WF, will have a real roasted turkey breast that they can slice, which is better than the processed deli-style turkey meat. |
