The Trump Women and their Fashion Mishaps - Part Three

The Agra dress is too big. The blue color clashes with the blue her kids are wearing. The patterns don’t look good together. And those loafers are awful!!! Agree with the poster who said she should have worn denim sneakers.

The outfit she wore for that tv interview was almost offensive it was so boring. At least it fit her. I agree with the poster who said it was rude to dress so casually. It’s something I would wear to a baby shower, not a national tv interview. And her hair looked awful.

Her only job right now other than caring for her kids is to look put together. She should tackle that job with the same effort she would an appellate brief. Michelle Obama was “just a lawyer” before she became First Lady and she managed to dress for the role. Laura Bush was just a librarian who dressed for the role. Usha needs a stylist, a tailor, and a haircut/blow out.

This. I suspect it’s an ego thing - I think she thought she & JD were a team (such as the interview she gave emphasizing how he’s so “alone” and calls her - I doubt it. I’m sure JD is living up rubbing elbows with anyone and she is dying that she has to sit at home with her kids) and the fact that she is now just the trophy wife is not something she will embrace. But she she needs to- it’s embarrassing. She has the opportunity to gain soft power like Michelle Obama (also hated by racists) or Kate Middleton and she’s just sitting in the sidelines and pouting. All successful politicians and public figures rely on their spouses - they are an asset, like Michelle or Melanie, or a liability (like Kim Guilfoyle).

I'm sorry but this is a terrible outfit - those shoes are so unflattering, the shirt is too tight and looks absurd with that flitty skirt. And her hair looks terrible.

Agreed. Next time can we request JD takes Ivanka with him? She knows how to dress the part! Usha could have borrowed her outfit from the Ambani wedding?!

At risk of sounding like a clueless white woman, I wonder why she didn't choose to wear more Indian outfits? When she stepped off the plane in Solani (Indian-British designer) I was hopeful she would lean into theme dressing for the week. Even in that pic, she's dressed like the world's most mediocre midlevel bank manager and the interviewer is in a sari, so a sari wouldn't have been inappropriate.

I'm Indian-American and I am right there with you!! And the crazy thing is that they've been dressing their children in Indian clothes. They are far better dressed than her. She doesn't even need to be in a sari, she could wear something like her daughter is wearing (except obviously a longer top).

It's very deliberate. Other than the occasional Indian designer, she doesn't wear anything that calls back to India at all.

I'd assume that this is to appease or keep the ultra right wing quiet. You can't be anti-DEI and have your wife out frolicking in a sari and celebrating her heritage.

Re: Celebrating her heritage.

A clip of that interview came up on my Instagram last night. I was shocked to learn this is JD's first time in India. Haven't they been married for like 10, closer to 15 years? And in that whole time they've never been to India together? She did say they read the kids Indian epics and JD sometimes makes Indian food, but idk. I don't think she's loud and proud about her heritage.

I've been married 15 years and my husband and I have never been to India together. My parents and their entire families live in the US. If your parents moved from Wichita to New England, and your grandparents were all dead would you have reason to go back to Wichita??

I don't think that's quite the same. Moving from Wichita to New England is still American culture, albeit with regional differences.

You are missing the point. It’s not about culture. It’s about visiting family. I have a ton of foreign cousins that because my parents were just squeaking by, we visited twice when I was growing up and I have seen once since then. I’ve met this part of my family three times, I just don’t have much of a connection to them. Why would I take my husband to visit them when we have limited vacation time and the rest of my family (including one entire side of my family that lives in the US) is here?

Also, most Americans I know are not at all close to their extended families, so that makes your argument a little more laughable to me.

Can anyone convince me that Usha is not on this thread replying directly?! Honestly, because it’s not a vacation, they are politicians. And most of the Americans I know who are not close to extended family are white; my SE Asian, S Asian, African and Black friends and coworkers are.

I'm not Usha, I actually abhor Usha and the comment about atrocious shoes above was mine. I'm sorry, you're right, I should have said WHITE Americans. Thank you for the correction on that. My assumption is always that the majority of women who write here are wealthy white women who are not close to their family. I'm probably wrong, but it certainly feels that way.

I doubt Melania cares - she has lived this long married to Trump. She seems pretty IDGAF. That said, I think he coat/dress for the service is nice and appropriate. Her hair/mantilla ar unfortunate - definitely demonstrates how much her hair distracts from her face. I’m surprised she hasn’t had a deep plane facelift.

The deal with Usha is that the next three years are essentially her audition for First Lady. It's no secret JD wants to be president and if she wants to be First Lady someday (or if HE wants her to be), then she needs to start looking and acting like it NOW.

I truly think there’s some deep mental health issues going on with this woman.

Not sure if this has been posted - Ivanka in Costa Rica. Also, I didn’t realize she was friends with Gisele Bündchen.

I just can’t. She looks like she grabbed a doily last minute and threw it over her head.

To be fair, this is a Papal funeral Mass. Laura Bush also wore a veil to JPII's funeral, and she wasn't even Catholic.

She does need to lay off the spray tan for a hot minute though. She is straight up orange at this point.

She is Catholic and grew up next to Italy. That is what women in that region wear to go to church. A longer one would have been better, though.

I will defer to all of you on when she could have found a better mantilla, but I kind of struck by her composure in the picture. She does look like she’s upset about the pope.

Doesn't she go to Mass every Sunday? I believe she is actually a very devout Catholic and has been all her life, while still being socially liberal, as opposed to JD who converted a couple days ago and then DEMANDS to meet the Pope when he's on his deathbed.

I'm of the opinion that Vance would be really pissed if Usha upstaged him because of her clothing like Jackie K. did with Kennedy.
Little American wifey is exactly what he wants so no ethnic clothes for her.

I think she looks nice here, gd help us. But whoever said the daughter's outfit is better is correct.

The loafers are not good. Why not a pair of simple ballet flats?

If she had worn ballet flats, you would have mocked her for wearing them and insisted that white loafers would have been better.

White loafers would never be better. Not those, not on her.

The dress was nice and ballet flats would have easy and completed the picture. The white loafers are terrible.
It’s like the time she wear that terrible taupe sweater with the army green winter coats to Greenland. A simple black turtleneck would have been so much better

She had to wear taupe with the army green coat because they were doing military cosplay in Greenland, either to kiss up to the military base, or to frighten the poor Greenlanders. It was really obvious and really weird.
I like the blue dress a lot in the seated picture, but don't love it in the walking picture. I would like it more if the skirt was just one piece of fabric. It has that second skirt flounce that was really popular a year or two ago and which I think is really unflattering and I am beyond sick of. I like how the stripes angle in on the top though, that's very flattering. I think loafers with a dress is a weird choice. I have bad feet and need arch support, but they do sell ballet flats with arch support, or a nice walking sandal. Even little white or denim sneakers would be better. I wonder if when she packs, she lays out all the outfits together. It looks like she forgot to pack shoes to go with that dress.

I’m imagining the conniption fits this crowd would have had if she had actually worn “denim sneakers.” She looked polished, pretty, and appropriate as is.

She looked bland, boring, and those shoes are atrocious. She didn’t look BAD but she just looked like a regular 40 year old tourist with her kids. I would expect more from someone representing our country in the country of her family’s heritage. It doesn’t need to be Indian clothes at all but she should have expected millions of eyes on her during her visit and dressed accordingly. She absolutely doesn’t look polished, she looks average when she needs to look above average.

The PP nails it. Bland, boring, like an average tourist. She looks average when she needs to look above average. Like it or not her job now is to look good.

Laura Bush was bland and boring. Karen Pence too. Tipper Gore, Lynne Cheney. Boring and bland is the standard

They were all bland and boring but POLISHED. There is a different between looking boring in a beige Chanel suit and sensible haircut a la Laura Bush and boring with unbrushed hair, no makeup, and a wrinkled dress a la Usha.

Has anyone ever seen her in person? I'm curious as to what she.looks like in person. What does the heavy makeup and hair look like? Is it flattering? I realize I've never seen anyone in really heavy stage-type makeup up close. It must look obvious, right? Has anyone been in proximity to her or Lara Trump or others? How do they look?

I have never seen any reporting indicating that Melania goes to Mass at all, much less every Sunday. That would surprise me very much.

She’s on video a lot, I don’t think it’s hard to find out what she looks like.

My dad saw her at a restaurant once and said she looks ghoulish in-person lol.

Oh and I met Kellyanne Conway once years ago pre-plastic surgery and she just looked like a normal frumpy middle aged mom. I just remember her nails were bitten down to the quick.
