The jury thought they would "at least get him on some minor charge" but they should've just acquitted him on everything if they didn’t think he was guilty. This doesn't fit what he was actually convicted of.

That’s outside the sentencing guidelines. He doesn’t have any prior snd he was convicted of third degree felonies. So they are basically asking the judge to take into consideration the charges he was accused of but not convicted. Therefore, they went the judge to use those facts to find aggravated and extenuating circumstances to sentence above the guidelines.

The defense has moved for acquittal or at least a new trial on just the Mann act charges so all of the really damaging evidence from the RICO charges can't be brought in. This makes sense but what a waste of resources.

Sentencing is today. Any predictions? I'm guessing a max of 5 years with time served and probation. I think the defense is asking for 14 months with time served, which would have him released around the end of this year.
