I mean I could never again watch anything he’s in because I would be thinking about his personal life the whole time, but he is very funny.

I don't know. Jerry Seinfeld survived dating a 17/18-year-old and then dating/marrying someone who'd just returned from her honeymoon. His personal life doesn't seem to have affected his success as a comedian.

That was a different time. And also Jerry Seinfeld was an actual A-list comedian, with an incredibly successful television show at the height of his fame. So of course he could get away with that. John Mulaney is at a very low, cancelable level of fame.
