Whoever said he looks like the Queen and Charles must be suffering from facial recognition failure.

No he does not. Louis looks like her dad. George has a narrow face like William and he does have the Queen’s eye shape although I don’t think he looks that much like her. He doesn’t look like Charles at all. Kate’s dad has a rounder face shape.

Charlotte has the sangfroid if the queen, the take nibshit attitude if the Orincesd Royal, and the charisma of great aunt Margaret. She is the one to watch.

Straight from their playbook.

There is always negative press about the royals. The train trio was as nice a gesture that the royals ever make. If you follow the Cambridge’s schedule, the panto film was in it week before the trip to thank carers

The royal secretly volunteered her time over the past months by having phone conversations with Len Gardner, an 85-year-old full-time caregiver to his wife with Alzheimer's disease. After being connected by the Royal Voluntary Service, Gardner had an important first question for the Duchess of Cambridge: What should he call her? Kate simply told Gardner, "Call me Catherine," he revealed to The Sun, making her instantly feel like a friend.

"After the first two sentences I didn’t feel like I was talking to someone so important," he said.

Gardner said he was "flabbergasted" when he learned Kate would be on the other end of the phone line, but their first conversation in May lasted about 30 minutes. Kate, 38, told him that she was watching Prince George and Princess Charlotte play outside through the window, and the two bonded over their appreciation for Italian food.

Just days after their phone call, Gardner received a brand new pasta machine and flour — a gift from Kate.

"I can tell you, this lady you see on television that goes into the crowds and talks to people — what you see is what you get," he said. "She is a very, very nice person."

What a thoughtful gesture!

This is one of those things that plays well in the media as a grand gesture, but is useless, at heart. So one man got some phone calls and a pasta maker. How does this help the nation at large in the struggle against COVID? This is the kind of thing any private citizen (sorry, subject!) could do. Kate is the Duchess of Cambridge. She has the power to make substantive changes in the lives of many people. I like Kate but think she should have gone for bigger picture action.

I mean...there's no way the Queen or Charles sleeps in those tiny beds on the train during their journeys. Weird choice.

Why Kate Middleton and Prince William Are Sleeping in Separate Beds on Royal Train Tour

Hideous decor looks like an NHS hospital

I’m surprised. I took one of these overnight trains a few years ago traveling from Italy to Austria and it was much nicer than this.

Haha. They have THEIR OWN TRAIN.

What does that have to do with the decor?

What does a commercial train you took from Italy to Austria have to do with the Royal Train?

I think PP’s point is simply that it’s surprising the Royal Train isn’t more attractively outfitted.

They are figureheads, you should be expecting more from their actual officials in charge.

Is this really a surprise? Given the splashy exit and flounce earlier in the year, there was plenty to talk about. Not much of it was flattering. The rest of the royal family had a pretty quiet year in comparison due to Covid.

Guess they need to bring back the pro-Cambridge bots.

True. But people on this thread insist that people only talk about them when they are paid by sunshine Sachs to do so.

There’s always negative press about the Cambridges do not think that is the case with all the royals.

Oh yes indeed. ALL the royals get a kick in the pants at some point. Except the Queen.

They did generate by far the most amount or controversy, fair or not. I guess that is what they will always be known for, controversy.

The comment about Kate wearing a tartan kilt and scarf in Wales as if she thought Wales is in Scotland-- Ouch!
