I hate to say it, but I think we'd better get used to the idea of four more years of this BS.

I thought the main reason Trump won was because of the novelty factor; people wanted to vote for a celebrity. But his marketing and ad targeting are working, to the point where his base, especially as it relates to the Electoral College, is significant. He will never get a majority of anything (except the EC, which is all that matters) and he knows this.

Couple that with the fact that the Democrats can't find anyone decent, young (but not too young) and experienced to run against him. The Democratic primary process has been a sh!tshow and it's pretty obvious. Bernie will never beat Trump yet somehow he's the front runner.
