It also appears clear to me that Sidwell retaliated and decided that Dayo should go to Spellman instead of an Ivy, and did everything they could to make that happen.

Eh, you reap what you sow.....I have zero sympathy for the family and one can only imagine the height of their douchbaggery to provoke such a response from SFS.

Yup

If they didn’t have a case in the first place, it seems unlikely that Sidwell would have agreed to a settlement, especially a high one and change grades. Additionally, it does seem odd that this same student would be the only kid in the whole class not to get into a college - including Spellman, where it seems she would have had a very strong chance coming from Sidwell, without the possibility of some negative info. If she was a disastrous student, why Would Penn agree to take her one year later? What changed?

I happen to agree. Something's not adding up.

Said two people who do not work in litigation or crisis management practices.

The ultimate in grade grubbing.

CNN’s writeup is pretty good. Made clear the parents produced no evidence of retaliation, beyond their own theorizing. Given the list of schools, it does look like Spelman was an obvious safety, which is perhaps why Spelman rejected her? Or maybe the application was a disaster? Dunno. What motivation would sfs have to sink her application?

But SFS hopefully learned it’s lesson — don’t settle these cases! People just come back for more.

I'm a math professor. These patents are nuts and horribly entitled. Sidwell should have not settled, they should have seen their day in courtesy with the family instead of avoiding bad pr.

You clearly didn't take time to read the case. The school master assaulted the parents.

There was misconduct in the counselling department and Sidwell did not abide to the terms of their contract.

CNN article said she didn’t get into UVA????? It’s a great school but I would think that any kid who made through Sidwell with decent grades and test scores would get in. What was her GPA?

Maybe the essay was about persisting through the persecution of the teachers ...
