That may be the case, and I *really* hope it is. But you're being pretty premature in drawing that conclusion. The second nurse just self-reported a day or so ago. And she was in the group of people who were supposed to be self-monitoring. If you were just a random person in an ER waiting room, you probably weren't told to self-monitor. You may not even know you were exposed. I agree it sounds like it's unlikely that anyone in the general population will get it (thankfully), but I don't like seeing this unwarranted confidence. Don't declare victory yet. |
Yes Dallas did not even follow standard medical practices with its medical waste from a know case of Ebola. I bet if they got another case they would do the same thing again. Texas is a pretty conservative state. I bet they just ignored the federal guidelines for handling a contagious diseases b/c it came for the federal government or a "liberal" university. |
| Why is no one calling for the second nurse's head like they were Duncan's. Yes, the CDC screwed up in telling her she could fly. But she's a medical professional, knew what early stages of Ebola looked like, knew a colleague was infected by the same patient she was treating, and knew she had a slight fever. Tremendous lapse in judgement by getting on that plane and total lack of critical thinking. If people were calling for Duncan to be charged if he lived, why is no one saying the same thing about her? Her lack of critical thinking and judgement could have infected who knows how many. |
What is it with Reston and Ebola? |
Not the PP, but the closest hospital is imperative for an asthmatic who is having breathing issues --including bad coughing. If I cough more than 2 times in a row, I know I am at risk for an attack. If I have an attack, I'd been in trouble to travel more than. 10 min to an ER. |
If you need to go to the hospital, don't touch anybody's bodily fluids while you are there. You'll be fine. |
Please all those DCUMers with husbands that NEVER wash their hands after using the bathrooms : (See multiple old threads) Read the above, then read it again. Then kick your DHs you know where until they man up and freaking wash their hands! How difficult can it be? |
I am a lifelong asthmatic. This seems a bit dramatic. Are you not taking medication daily and do you not have an emergency inhaler? |
To the pp with an asthmatic kid. You should take your kid to children's if he has an attack. They are better equiped and you don't go through general triage since they have an asthma unit. |
I do, but I have other health conditions that cause me to spiral down fast --including a heart ailment. |
They sent his blood sample through the hospital's tube delivery system. That's not proper procedure. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/15/nurses-protest-ebola/17302987/ |
I understand your concern because, over the years, we have had to take our kid to Fairfax for asthma related issues. They are the best for that, in my view. Would Fair Oaks or Loudoun be an option for you? Fair Oaks is pretty close to Reston. |
LOL PP! |
Because that would be the right thing to do. That would have stopped it from spreading. But we are living in a bad tv movie and all the leaders are making mistake after mistake. |
| Any chance we could get a temporary Ebola forum to keep everybody happy? |
