There should be NO budget that needa to be constantly renewed, period. Congress should work in reverse - debates should be had to cut spending and programs, not about whether or not to even pay for stuff. The budget should be automatic every year. If you create something, it gets funded permanently until it is killed off.

Yearly budget approvals are tied to too many political shenanigans. The number of funding lapses keeps increasing and is getting totally out of hand. Enough is enough. A complete overhaul of how govt funding works is needed. Forget the entire concept of fiscal budgets.

Take the money from the ICE agents who have been paid this whole time. Lay them off - we don’t need them. The department didn’t even use to exist. It was just CBP.

Lies. In fact it's well documented in the Senate Appropriations Committee that Democrats attempted SIX SEPARATE TIMES in 24 hours to pass bills funding TSA, FEMA, CISA, and the Coast Guard while negotiations continued over ICE and CBP. Republicans refused.

Democrats proposed a bill to fund every single part of DHS except for ICE and CBP. Republicans refused.
Democrats proposed individual bills to fund TSA, FEMA, CISA, Coast Guard and other DHS functions. Republicans refused.
That's all documented fact.

Democrats were willing to fund TSA and the other DHS agencies. They refused to vote for the GOP bill because the Republicans refused to put in any of the common sense oversight and accountability measures, like requiring judicial warrants, making them remove their masks and identify themselves.
