No. It’s a joke. Her last sentence is “My jeans are blue.” |
This will only be a positive for AE |
Wtf? I honestly wonder what world some people are living in. This is ridiculous. I’m a white woman and I’ve not noticed progressives trying to make me feel ugly or undesirable. Stop with the whining and victim mentality. |
What’s concerning is that AE knew they were putting out an ad campaign that would be viewed by many as embracing white supremacy and thought that was a good idea. Yikes! |
Anybody who comes on here bagging on GenX deserves no explanation. Boomers? Fair game. But leave the Xers out of it. |
Open your eyes. The reaction to this whole ad proves the point. |

There is some revisionist history happening with this whole anti inclusion thing. It made American Eagle a ton of money when they started it. I get it, you want to see hot blondes in ads, however minorities and large women also have money and credit cards that work. The average American women’s pants size is believed to be between 14-18. It’s probably going down because of ozempic, but people seem to forget that Americans are generally big people. I think most of us probably live in DC or another urban area that tends to be fitter, go to a small town in the south or Midwest and you will start to get it. |
Ads with plus size models don’t sell clothes, unfortunately. While realistic it’s not what people really want to see. |
I don’t think so. I’m a little freaked out by the conservative back lash to the back lash. The number of complaints that there are ads that aren’t just focused on attractive white people. Not to mention at some point the number of references to her boobs has got to start feeling a bit demeaning. Good grief, they’re just breasts. |
Are you familiar with Sydney Sweeney? She knows about the obsession with her boobs and uses it to make money. They literally had her in a swimsuit to sell Hey Dudes shoes to guys. |
Not everybody can be in every ad…or movie…or band.
I just want to see attractive people showcasing the product. The product is jeans. Blue jeans. The ad is perfectly fine. It’s about jeans. Blue jeans. And the model’s commentary is related to the product. It’s an ad. It’s not a big political statement. And it certainly isn’t a commentary on race. The world has gone mad. |
She knows and she uses them to her full advantage. But I don’t see the flat chested girls freaking out. A pretty girl acknowledged she was pretty. Big deal. |
Hmm, so you’re saying that the celebration of SS’s big boobs and hotness is not a new thing. So the backlash to this ad isn’t just because it’s new and shocking to see an ad with someone who’s hot and has big boobs. Hmm, it’s almost like there’s something else about the ad that people are reacting to. What could that be? |
.....and my prediction was 100% correct. The entire ad's purpose is to stoke white conservatives' rage about a fake "woke backlash" that only existed online in rightwing media/spaces: Remember, conservatives and online incels were dissing Sweeney's looks only a few months ago, debating whether she was "mid": sydney sweeney is mid |
People have to learn not to respond when they are being baited. |
