Diuretics and laxatives were handed out on one of my teams before weigh-in. Also played for Miller a different year. Dickheadious Maximus. |
Nope. Cleveland Park. Which was decidedly uncool and staunchly middle class. All the cool kids lived in Spring Valley or Foxhall. I remember Pappagallo's in G-town and in White Flint. The Lemon Twist is amazingly still around! Bermuda bags (monogrammed of course) were de riguer, as were gros grain ribbons in our ponytails. Also Topsiders, NOT docksiders. |

My Mom sewing all the bridesmaids' dresses for my older brother's wedding....
My Mom sewing my older 3 sisters culotte skirts in the 60's...... Mom, you are awesome! (but I am kind of glad that once I was old enough to care about clothing, you could afford to buy me stuff from Britches) |
| Taking my prom date to Ponderosa on Rockville Pike for dinner. (we were headed for the Prime Rib just down the street but they shut down the week before) So embarrassing carrying a tray with the big plastic number on it in my tux. |
| The old Toys R Us on Rockville Pike where the Party City is now. |
| The Christmas windows at Woodies downtown and the 'secret shop' where kids could shop for gifts for their family on their own. |
I forgot about my Peter's Jacket. I had one and we always used to shop at E. J Korvettes for back to school supplies. I used to love that. And then on to J.C. Penneys in Congressional Plaza for new underwear. And then lunch at Roy Rogers or Hot Shoppes Jr in Congressional. |
| All the guys in HS wearing white puka shell necklaces. What was with that? |
| Trolley tracks and cobblestone streets in Georgetown. The trolleys were gone when I was around. |
| Pitchers at Trav's Inn on McArthur after touch football games and in summer evenings. |
