Las Vegas workers have seen their income from tips plunge by as much as 50% — despite the recently passed no tax on tips law — as tourism to Sin City takes a hit from President Trump’s global trade war.

“No tax on tips, that’s a rad thing. But it doesn’t really do us much good if there isn’t any people to get tips from,” Charlie Mungo, a 36-year-old tattoo artist in downtown Las Vegas, told the Wall Street Journal.

Mungo said he has made about $1,500 a month in recent months.

Harris barely won Clark County with a little of 50% in the 2024 election. Forty-eight percent of Las Vegas residents voted for Trump. Over 492,000 people in that county voted for Trump. Trump won the state by 47,000 votes. The good people of Las Vegas, Clark County, NV wanted those free tips that most of them were not paying anyway. Oh well, they FAFO that they got what they voted for, no taxes on no tips on the no money they are no longer receiving.

Trump just said he was allowing 600,000 Chinese students to come to America. Maybe that will make a dent in the trillion-dollar loss to the tourism business.

Truthfully August in DC is very quiet. Lots of folks out of town - Congress on recess, Feds take time off, and UMC and rich lobbyists, media and others go to Maine, Nantucket, and Delaware and NC beaches. Plus area private schools don’t start back until after Labor Day.

BUT it IS even quieter than normal. Interested to see what happens in September.

You sound like you believe tourism is insignificant to the United States. It is one of the largest service industries in the US, rivalling healthcare and finance. It brings in hundreds of billions in revenue and support millions of jobs.

Of course it's significant. But what's your plan to secure our borders and nation? And undo the damage the dems did by supporting an onslaught of (many illegal) immigrants to get more blue votes?

People coming from rich countries like Canada, Germany, Sweden, Australia, etc are not the source of large numbers of illegal immigrants. My plan would be to treat those tourists respectfully, which is definitely not happening now.

If I was a citizen of another country, there’s no way in hell I would take a trip to the USA for pleasure. And I would think twice if forced to come on business. The world is too big and full of wonders to put up with Kristi and Donald’s bullcrap.

I am hoping this continues into next summer.

National Parks are overwhelmed with tourists. Best thing to happen is to limit the tourism.
