I don’t get why mask if the vaccine does its job. Wasn’t that the point of the vax to make COVID transmission and symptoms easier ? |
You know that people are still dying of COVID in April 2024, not to mention it’s been a rough year for RSV and influenza, and norovirus is making late season rounds? I think it’s weird that you have some kind of arbitrary expiration date on the health and safety of others, not to mention their comfort in ensuring their own health and safety and that of their loved ones. |
Death rates are back to normal levels. Dying of COVID is no different from dying from the regular flu, which happens to the very fragile all the time. Believe what you want, but your masking isn't doing anything to help. It's just theater. |
It's amusing watching defensive people justify their antics. When you do something very visible, of course people are going to comment and wonder, even if politely from a distance. It's like watching the pro-Gaza protestors storm the Google offices. All young. All wearing masks. Nobody else at Google was wearing a mask. What was the point of masking? What were they trying to attempt or show? Or did they all have cancer? |
Yes, in general, the vaccine has been shown to prevent severe disease in most cases. A mask is another step towards that, especially if you or a loved one cannot get the vaccine. Aside from that masking is relatively inexpensive, safe, and easy to do, not to mention is effective for other infections. If a person doesn’t find it a burden, why do you? |
I think the cashiers at Trader Joe’s who wear masks but not covering their nose are weird. And at other businesses too but Trader Joe’s seems to have a lot of mask wearing employees. And then what’s interesting is the medical building where I work with 16 floors of doctors offices has very few mask wearing doctors or employees walking around. Not sure if they know less than the Trader Joe’s people? I wonder what the rate of illness is between the two groups. I work in a surgery center and they definitely wear the masks in surgery. But they did that even before Covid. |
I don’t mask, but it doesn’t bother me if people do because they don’t want to be one of the many that are still dying. You have no idea who is medically fragile. So far as I know, they don’t deserve to die, and have the right to protect themselves from death as long as they see fit. Also interesting that you’re using masking as some kind of derogatory slur. What’s your beef, really? |
Asking a simple question on an anonymous chat site is somehow “some kind of arbitrary expiration date?” |
Here too. |
Where do you live? |
What makes April 2024 special in this matter? |
To make covid transmission easier? |
15 minutes in the supermarket or an hour at the germy doctor's office isn't all the time. I work from home. |
My sister used to own a daycare. She was sick as a dog the whole time. Those little kids are germ factories. |
Because covid only strikes at those places! This virus is so smart! Wear it all the time or dont wear it at all if you're that concerned or you're not doing yourself any favors |
