NP. I don’t have Twitter. Can someone post some screenshots? I’m curious. |
22 people are on the ship, the lady on the news said they will be on the ship for weeks--why is that, why can’t they come off? |
NP. Baltimore resident and Scott voter here. I may have issues with him as a mayor, but nothing having to do with this press conference. Also wondering what the original PP was referring to. |
Around 4:30, the Baltimore County executive was interviewed on WTOP and he has been in the emergency call center since 4am. He said that as of 4:30 there had not been an update. 2 rescued; one checked out fine by emergency medical personnel and declined transport, one was transported with very serious injuries to local trauma center. Shortly after, they had word from the director of the medical center where the person was treated and he reported that the patient was out of treatment and had been released. BC exec did not have any further information on the six missing construction workers. All are saying that the pilot of the container ship's SOS was crucial and allowed 2 minutes for the bridge workers to halt traffic entering the bridge before the collision so that no additional vehicle passengers were injured. The vehicles that crashed from the bridge was all uninhabited and likely construction or construction related vehicles. So, the only ones known to be unaccounted for are the construction workers. The chief executive of the contracting company that hires them says they are working under the assumption that the employees have perished, but the emergency personnel have not given up and are still operating search and rescue. |
Not sure WTF you’re trying to do here but there were no train lines on the Key Bridge. |
I have not read everything but if someone can answer some questions. All I hear about is 7 people who are unaccounted for and who may or may not be undocumented and they were hardworking etc and this is so sad. What about the people in the cars and tractor trailers? I cannot imagine they got out and also hear about underwater sonar pinging on cars. Why is there no focus on those victims? Was there a miracle and there were actually no cars/trucks that went over? I saw the video and thought this was impossible but also heard some people were able to close road so maybe they did get out? Details please. |
Obviously the work crew would have had their cars on the bridge if they were working there. Not sure about the tractor trailer. |
There were no cars or vehicles with people in them that fell into the river. The ship notified authorities that they were going to hit the bridge and they were able to stop all traffic going to the bridge. Only the construction workers in the middle of the bridge fell into the water, two of whom were rescued. |
The vehicles seem to be related to the construction. It's possible that people were in them using them to evacuate, but they would be the 6 people who are missing or the 2 people who were rescued. But it's also possible that they were parked on the bridge and no one was in them. |
Traffic was stopped 2 min (could be wrong about the time) before impact. The cars on the bridge were not occupied. Maybe they were worker's cars? |
According to the police scanner, they were able to get police at both ends to block traffic mere seconds before the bridge collapse. There were a couple vehicles (related to construction), but non-construction vehicles were limited due to the late night timing of this incident. Currently 6 people are unaccounted for. 2 rescued, but hospitalized. |
I believe the eight construction workers (two rescued, six missing) are the only confirmed victims right now. There might be others but we don't know that, so the focus is on the people we know are missing. |
Yes, the cars left on the bridge were the workers' cars. Police received word of the boat's mayday call and blocked off traffic access just before it hit. But the work vehicles may not have been empty. According to a co-worker of the construction crew, they were on lunch break at the time of the incident and most were sitting in their cars eating. |
That is an outdated term/diagnosis, which is no longer used. |
