Why would they vote Republican? The party that takes away women’s rights and uses billionaire $$ to control the courts. |
“ will announce new actions to protect student loan borrowers “
How is this protecting loan borrowers who took out the loans willingly? Is paying your debt back something new? Can he protect me against my mortgage? He takes no stance on the interest rate of these loans. Smart people know the problem lies in the interest and that’s why the smart ones pay the loans. The idiots who don’t understand simple economics are crying foul. Seriously get with the program! Understand the realities of money, interest and make better decisions. We don’t live in a socialist country. You are responsible for your debt! |
Because people are dumb, take out $180k in debt, and don't do 5 minutes of hw learning about the concept of loan amortization. |
Clearly she’s an idiot. With a law degree from Fordham, I’m sure she should be able to figure out how much she needs to pay monthly to reduce the balance. And she can’t cry poor because she lives in a $1M house. She’s choosing to make minimum payments and let the debt rise so she can spend her money on other things. She’s literally making an argument against debt forgiveness because her problem is irresponsibility and no one wants to give irresponsible people money. |
So the payments don’t include principle + interest? |
Oh god people. No wonder there’s a financial literacy crisis in this country. FYI social media is not a good source.
Ps know your terms ie when interest starts adding up. Grad loans, interest starts the day the loan was taken even though you’re a student! And yes when you first start, you need to understand that you need to “catch up” on all that accumulated interest. Sounds ass backwards right? The more you look into this bs, the more realize that the system is screwed up and no one time forgiveness will make a difference, this is a trillion dollar + problem. |
+1 exactly |
I don’t have a horse in this race yet but I cannot help but notice how socialist the US is becoming. Covid showed how it’s possible to get essentially free money (rent forgiveness, increased unemployment, PPP loans, stimulus money, etc). Student loans were kind of on the bandwagon and now the democrats just can’t let it go because it is part of their promise. It makes me think I should just teach my kid to pay the minimum and wait for an opportune moment for his loans to be forgiven. I do sense that some kind of forgiveness is coming for sure, maybe not for everyone and for the full amounts but some. |
I so agree with this. I don't understand where the outrage was as the wealthy got their PPP loans forgiven??? |
|
Why aren't we forgiving medical debt before student loan debt? |
A lot of student loan debtors have negative amortization because they are on an income based payment plan which doesn't cover enough interest each month. Many never even touch principal. |
Since we aren't forgiving either, it's pretty much a moot point. |
Because the GOP doesn't want that outrage reflected in their weekly messaging on right wing news media, which is consumed by very useful low information voters. |
I know plenty of rich Dems who scammed PPP. |
