Where did the little green men touch you?

However, I am more disturbed that so many people have access to so much information.

This should go up the chain of command for negligence--beginning with whoever approved him for this clearance. How much training did this kid get on what would happen if he shared information? Did he get any training on the seriousness of his job?

We hear an awful lot about training on social issues, sexual issues, etc. How much training are these young people getting on the importance of their jobs.

Wow slow down there skippy! That is not how things work and why after Snowden(low level employee) we are seeing the same thing. There will be no comprehensive review as to why a low level employee has access to all the top secret files(many that are outside of his purview), can make copies, just take them home or post on the web(for months before anyone notices).

DO NOT LOOK BEHIND THE CURTAIN….you will be arrested! So next times this happens do not ask these type of questions

What bs. There was no way to know this idiot would betray his country for his ego so no one did anything wrong giving him a clearance. People really think that the people vetting candidates for clearances have amazing powers of esp and see the future?

Your reply is BS. You will always have people like this. He is a very low level person with no need to have access to this broad array of information. This is a system failure. The people and the leadership of the department tasked with keeping this information classified need to lose their job but that will not happen. Instead it will be the same BS you regurgitate.

You are not logical. We are talking about different things you tool.

And if it’s shown he’s not a MAGA extremist, the narrative will be spun that the leak was a good thing, just watch.

Let’s stop with the MAGA vs non MAGA. We should all be outraged that this kid felt such a need to be popular that he leaked top secret documents and put US source and intel at risk. It’s a HUGE problem with youth feeling they deserve their 15 min of fame, that being a decent person isn’t enough.

This is true. But, it does not negate the seriousness of the action.

There are so many things that are coming to the surface here:

1. The lack of serious vetting.
2. Accessibility to so many documents.
3. Possible lack of training and instruction on the seriousness of this action by his superiors--all the way up the chain to the SecDef. SecDefm seems more concerned with training on sexual assault, pronouns, and diversity than on the mission.

And, then we have the issue of what is revealed:

1. Are the documents accurate?
2. Is our government lying to us?

And, then, the social issues with the young man sharing this information.

All of this is troubling.
Sadly, and rightly, the Airman will pay a heavy price.

Please address the lack of serious vetting. How do you know this? Do you understand the vetting process?

Seriously? The military needs to tell people that top secret documents should remain secret? I don't think any of the three things you mentioned have anything to do with this man not understanding law and his mission. It's possible he's triggered by them but that's about it.

I agree. His point number 3 above is asinine. This is a person who has no clue about the process. Without a doubt this racist gun nut knew exactly how illegal his actions were. No doubt.

3. Is BS. They get lots of training on classification. The kid just decided he wanted to “be cool”

It’s the same thing that happen with Snowden. This guy will go to prison and the security services will pat themselves on the back. The same system will remain in place and there. Will be more leaks. Nothing changes in a bureaucracy till some high level people loss their jobs.

Let’s face it. The only reason this was discovered was because it was released on the web. This guy and like Snowden wanted to show the world. There are most likely other with the same access who are doing it for money right now. They will not be discovered.

Posts like this show a complete lack of understanding of the issue. It is complex. People require access to data to do their jobs. Every time we go through this, restrictions are put in place that make it difficult for everyone else to do their work. It is incredibly difficult to deal with this issue. People think we can wave a magic wand and restrict access easily.

He kmew. That's why he made so many prayers that he wouldn't have to face the consequences of his actions. But God wouldn't hear it. God knew, too.

Somebody failed over this guy.

1. whoever decided that a low level Airman can have access to what must be a very wide range of highly sensitive intelligence information.
2. Who vetted this guy?
3. Who was his direct supervisor. Did anyone ever check his digital trail? I would think that would be a routine thing done on a random basis--after all, they test randomly for drugs.

But, let's forget about this and move on to renaming Fort Bragg to the tune of $17million plus.

Not in the military but the guy I knew who was the biggest sex offender in college just retired from the Navy at a very high level as a Commander and taught sex offense classes to others. 20 years in and no one noticed his misogyny. Whatever they are doing to help against these violent and equity acts is just lipstick. It’s not really changing anything at a personal level. The people in the military these days are too pro military and too boxed into their beliefs about themselves and others to realize how they actually act against the interests of this country and the people in it. I’m sure there were others in the military that supported this and you can already see that Marjorie in Congress does.

Commanders are a dime a dozen in the navy. The real cutoff is captain then a few of them make admiral.
Navy culture is pretty intense; especially on ships. If your friend was out at sea a lot he probably did not have many females to harass if he was on smaller ships.

Which is sad for the guy himself too, if he gets out of prison in the near future. What a sad turn to a young life.

Just being around him for a day revealed how much he demeaned women whether they were there or not.The military has an anti woman problem which bleeds into their hatred for democrats. I think it has to do with their imagining of all women as weak and for the taking or ridicule. The military appears too worried about woke culture to do its job well. Not that they shouldn’t be more “woke”. Just that they need to care about it less. This kid graduated high school in 2020. It’s insane that he would have these many documents and go unnoticed for so long.

You watch far too much FOX News or other bullshit conservative media. Military is too worried about "woke culture?" If anything in the last 3 years all they've had on DEI or anything else even remotely resembling "wokeness" is maybe one 15 minute powerpoint on the subject.

Originally, he didn't really "have" the documents, he just reproduced them, and not even his gamer friends noticed. So that's when he started sharing the documents themselves. And that's when it got noticed.

Not so sure actual "treason" would be so easy to prove. Chelsea Manning was more guilty of treason than this clown, but she only served 7 years on a 35 year sentence thanks to Obama.
Great message there for future leakers!
