Low sugar accountability thread - join me!

Well yesterday went all right all things considered. I stayed under my goal. Today will likely go over due to Easter dinner. But definitely back in the saddle again on Monday. Anyway I think in my head things are worse than they actually are.

OP Kate here. I am supposed to get my blood work done and had hoped I would have three solid months of low sugar behind me now. Didn’t happen. I’m heavier than when I started in January and have had maybe 1/2 of those as low sugar days. Anyway, can’t live in the past.

Today I’m back on the road but determined to eat healthy and low sugar.

Anyone hanging in there with me, please check in!

Hey Kate, Alexandra here. I ate like total sh*t last week- emotional eating over stress and then a lot of restaurant food (not typical for me). I’m trying to do a really good stretch of low sugar for a week. Want to stick with me? I’ll try and check in each day. I’m focusing on lots of protein and lots of fruits and vegetables, not just *not* eating sugar.

Please be really kind to yourself. This all gets harder as we get older and it’s important to be healthy but it’s just one small part of life. Take good care.

Alexandra—thanks for your kind words. I’m thinking about you and your family a lot. I know what those weeks are like. This week will be a good one though because we will feel better if we eat well. We are in this together!

Despite 5 hours of driving and lunch from a gas station, I ended the day with 21 grams of sugar and not overeating. Today I’m aiming for more fruits and vegetables along with fish and low fat dairy. Had a good run this morning. If I stick to plan, these extra pounds will be gone in a couple weeks.

Way to go Kate! I did well yesterday with no after dinner snack at all (didn’t exercise but had an active day). So far today I’ve done well too, lots of roasted vegetables and fruit and protein with every meal (even breakfast which is a tough one for me!). Feeling stressed but keeping it together pretty well so at least I don’t feel crappy about my eating choices on top of everything else. I will NOT sabotage myself tonight with sugar, if I absolutely need something this evening I’m going to just eat a spoon of peanut butter then go to bed.

Good night!

Great job, Alexandra! I’m proud of you. PB is a good choice. I’m going to bed a little hungry which is a good thing.

Night!

Good morning. It’s my birthday today but I have no desire to eat junk. Too many days of that already this year. Instead I went out for a beautiful spring walk and will start the day with a cup of tea and a healthy breakfast. Last year in my 40s begins today. I feel the next chapter of my life just around the corner. This is my last year of having a kid at home. I know as I get older eating healthy is more important than ever. Here’s to a great day!

I hope you had a good rest, Alexandra, and find some peace today.

End of day check in

Under 25 g I think. I had a cookie and a small chocolate caramel bunny.

Good walk and strength training.

Hope all is well!

Great job Kate and happy birthday! I am very proud of myself again. It was a very busy day (mostly good things for a change!) and I didn’t snack too much at all. Dinner was probably slightly bigger than necessary but it was relatively healthy. Lots of vegetables (and half a panini, oh well). Definitely stayed under 25 grams sugar. Feeling good.

I’m so happy to read your update, Alexandra. Here’s to another great day today. I’ve got a busy one with a customer meeting downtown and a slate of meetings in the afternoon. But it’s not going to deter me from eating well.

Thanks Kate! Had a bit of a set back with our ongoing medical issue today but trying again to cope healthfully. I haven’t been able to exercise much the past few days aside from a couple short walks and squeezed in a lunchtime workout so I’m proud of that. Will try to stay strong the rest of the day.

I ended the day pretty well but not amazing. Had a bowl of lucky charms and a small chocolate. Was around 25 grams of sugar for the day. Oh well.

Slept really poorly with all of the stress about medical stuff so will have to focus on resisting carbs. At least today looks like a relatively calm day at work.

Kate, how are you doing?

Alexandra here - I was SO hungry yesterday, not sure if it was because I was tired or something else but I definitely felt like I needed some carbs. I think I did ok, probably not a super low calorie day but I didn’t eat a lot of sugar which is what I guess I’m focusing on. Only walked, didn’t have time for anything more. Will try to get some more serious exercise in today.

Kate, how are you doing?

Hi, been busy. Had a bad day on Thursday (leftover Easter crap) and but got it back together Friday and yesterday. Going for a run and ready for another good day.
