At first, I wasn't sure that these were important hearings to have.
It seemed like a waste of time. But now it's clear they are crucial for the historical record. Trump is a criminal and should be charged with the highest crimes possible. To let him anywhere near the White House again is to bring about the end of this country. Gas prices don't matter in the big scheme of things. They will eventually drop. But once a tyrant is in charge, the U.S. and all we stood for is done. |

PP here. Yeah, I knew it was a grift. Seeing it laid out so clearly in the hearing is so humiliating for them, though, that it pained me. |

I don't think they are actually humiliated though. Remember the Bannon wall fraud case? Bannon was literally ripping off Trump's dumb supporters, he got caught and indicted, and then Trump pardoned Bannon for it. And not one Trump supporter said anything negative about Trump or Bannon for this. These dummies just keep lining up to get ripped off and smile while Trump and his cronies pick their pockets. It is truly amazing. |

My shorthand notes from today’s hearing. Please excuse typos and format.
Trump’s inner circle provided damning testimony. Barr on Trump: It was like Whack ‘O Mole Trump is detached from reality if he believes this stuff Idiocy to believe the Dominion machines are rigged and designed to engage in fraud. Confirmed by Department of Homeland Security, Michigan Senate Oversight Committee, 50 leading voter fraud organizations. Even if there was evidence of harvesting, that alone doesn’t mean he’d win the election nor would those votes be thrown out It’s bullshit The election was not stolen by fraud Haven’t seen anything since then that supports voter fraud Rubbish that more people voted in Philadelphia than there were voters Alex Cannon: Met with Pence who asked him what he found. Cannon told him nothing sufficient to prove fraud. Pence thanked him. Donoghue on on Trumps tirades: GA, PA, Mi NV. Hundreds of interviews. Investigated and disproved allegations that a PA truck driver transported hundreds of boxes of votes from NY. There is no suitcase filled with fraudulent ballots. No multiple scanning of ballots. No evidence of dead people voting. No evidence of Native Americans voting. Up next Republicans Mike Pak: 12/4/20 Barr asked if he’d seen a video that Giuliani showed purportedly stating suitcases full of ballots. Pak’s investigators black suitcase under table was a official ballot lock box to be counted the following day. Because of Giuliano’s video accusations, that lock box was unlocked and counted under strict security measures that night. Pak states under oath no substantiation of fraud. Schmidt who Trump called a “so called Republican”: Schmidt refuted claim on dead people ballots. no evidence of 8k dead voters let alone 8. Received Death threats after Trump named him (family, names, ages, pic of home) Ben Ginsberg (most prominent Republican election attorney): 2020 election was not close Fraud and irregularities- Never an instance in 60 cases and 180 counts 61 losses/1 win - Trump says didn’t have day in court. Most cases were dismissed on motion due to no shows or evidence Complained they didn’t have his day in court, each instance produced no credible evidence able to convince a court or judges. 25 Republican judges dismissed Trumps claims and more than a dozen attorneys investigated for coup PA, amalgamation, strained legal arguments without evidence, a misreading of the constitution Safe harbor deadline date for discovery 12/14/21was ignored by Trumps team. Committee unanimously votes to enter breach deadline into hearing evidence. Trump continued to pursue voter fraud despite deadline, and this is what he did according to Senior investigating Counsel under oath: Evidence of “Trumps big Lie” that the left wing mob undermined election Encouraged donations to the offficial defense fund (which didn’t doesn’t exist) 250 million dollars raised for “America PAC” Millions to pro Trump organizations 1 million to Mark Meadows Pushed false election narrative to secure donations to fight fraud Zero accounting that donations ever went to any legit organizations Liz Cheney closing: The past two hearing were narrowly focused. However, the following hearings will take a broader view of Trumps plan to corrupt DOJ Sneak peek preview testimony from Eric Hirschman to John Eastman on 1/7/21 the day after coup: “Are you out of your effing mind. True humiliation requires slinking away in secret shame, not protesting that they were conned. I think most will just willfully ignore the evidence because it's too painful to acknowledge, but even for those people, there's a little voice in their head telling them they were stupid. It's all the worse because the characteristic that is attracted by MAGA is an inferiority complex or fear that everyone else is succeeding at their expense. |

Sadly I'm drawing more nihilistic conclusions - they do not believe in this country's democratic institutions, so none of this matters. They simply want the GOP to accumulate enough power, as they have now on SCOTUS, to void any agency, entity, individual, branch of government that does not operate to their liking. There's a reason why Tucker Carlson can't get enough of Viktor Orban. |
