Chesterbrook Woods, McLean

LOVE. We are looking for a house and love, love this area. Gorgeous houses, beautiful neighborhood, but so individual and down to earth. Have some friends in this neighborhood who are crazy-high-achieving and highly accomplished, but you'd never know it just to meet them becuase they are such great, normal people. Only drawback I have seen is lack of sidewalks. I can't think of a prettier place to live. We reallly want to move here. So close to DC where I work and Arlington where DH works. Anyone live here? Experiences? McLean HS? Thanks!

McLean High is the only drawback. It's just not as good as Langley.

But I've heard bad things about Langley? Private school is probably the way we will end up going. Is Langley appreciably better than the private schools of the area? Love how close we could be to DC and the beauftiful houses of Chesterbrook Woods.

Are there any good houses for sale there? I checked recently and didn't see much.

Oh, the blinders of privilege.

No, doesn't seem that they come up often. I am checking constantly and doesn't sem there's a lot of turnover in the neighborhood. Wanted to get others' reactions/opinions/leads.

I think it is a nice neighborhood. And I think it is silly to squabble over McLean v Langley. Both are very good. If you can find a house you like in your price range, I would move quickly.

Thanks. We're far from HS kids (no kids yet) but know this is a point of contention w area parents. We considered Langley-feeder neighborhoods, too, but seems like there is little community (don't flame me!) and while we know McLean is the best or one of in the area, we'll prob go private anyway (but that's just us).

What's the opinion McLean vs Yorktown (best Arlington HS?)

Rule #1 about living here - ignore most of what people say. There are a lot of crazies. If you want to do private, do private. People take things much too seriously and personally around here.

We're a young-ish couple, successful, looking to have more land, more house, and more neighborhood than we've found so far in Arlington, which we don't think really compares. Thoughts on the different areas of McLean? We like Chesterbrook b/c it's so near to DC (both work on Hill).

But are you surprised for this demo?

OP, McLean is far more down to earth than Langley. I think this is well known.
