I am serving creamy tomato soup, a kale and brussel sprout salad, challah, latkes, and bimuelos-my husband wants a protein (meat). What would you suggest.? Our kindergartner is in a play at 11 so we will all be at his performance until 11:30 and home by noon for lunch. The kids will want to eat immediately...There will be 3 kids, and 6 adults. TIA!
Brisket in crock pot
Roast chicken
op here-you all don't think chicken/brisket is too heavy for a lunch?
no, it is not!!!
Roast chicken! Ina Garten's lemon chicken recipe would be perfect.
op here-ok thanks-I don't eat meat so I wasn't sure..appreciate the input! I think a roast chicken should be easy enough...serving brisket Sunday night.
Just get a chicken that's big enough so that it can be left cooking while you're gone. Really small ones are done in 2 hours I think.
Or if you want a protein that's veg, and very Chanukah friendly, try falafel. You can make the dough in advance and just fry before serving.
Buy a roast chicken.
honeybaked ham...
I'm impressed with any kids that will eat kale and brussel sprout salad. |

If you don't mind the milk/meat combo (since you are serving creamy tomato soup, I'm guessing some dairy there), then I would go with a roast chicken.
Your menu sounds great. |
I'd say a ham steak would be good... or maybe a spiral sliced ham
Your menu sounds wonderful. Have to second Ina's lemon chicken. Yum! Enjoy and happy Chanukah !
