I would like to buy a stand mixer but I am completely overwhelmed by the different brands and models. Looking for recommendations. Thanks.

Kitchenaid!!! It's the classic and it's amazing. I've had them my adult life. I wanted to shoot myself trying to bake a cake with my MIL's subeam mixer. I had no idea how much better my kitchenaid was.
My favorite childhood memories are of sitting on the counter and watching my mom make cookies in her mixer! |

Kitchen Aid. There is no other stand mixer. I've had mine for 13 years and I bake a lot, especially this time of year. Mine gets used, on average, througout the year at ;least once a week. During this time of year, I bake for a party I give in December, it gets used 3-4 evenings a week and countless times during the weekend. The thing is a workhorse.

Kitchen aid. I took my mom's and it must be 25+ years old and going strong. I keep looking for an excuse to replace it and can not find one.
Cooks Illustrated just did a recommendation analysis of this - worth picking up latest issue unless someone here can recall correctly - I think the basic Kitchen Aid performed among the best.
I have a Kithenaid I got on Groupon for $199 (!) and it really is the best. I adore it. As others said, there really are no other stand mixers worth experimenting with.
You can probably find one used on craigslist as well. Lots of people get them as a wedding present but then don't end up using them much.

My mother still has, and uses, her mother's kitchen aid mixer. It is more than 50 years old. They aren't necessarily made to the same standards today, but I have put mine through 10 years of heavy use and it still looks and runs as if it is brand new.
I am a pastry chef, and every commercial kitchen I have worked in, plus my cooking school, stocked kitchen aid mixers. |
Get the KitchenAid with the glass bowl. Makes a difference to be able to see the ingredients while it's mixing. I think it's the Artisan series. Or you might be able to get a classic one and swap out the bowl.
Which KitchenAid? So many choices!
whichever kitchenaid you can afford. I have the pro now, but the classic worked just as well.
Is Pro better than Artisan?
Kitchen aid. Worth the hype. I don't have the top of the line one and it is still fabulous.
All the kitchen aids work the same. I've had all 3 (one was a roommates). The pro is just larger
Yeah the entry kitchenaid is a great first stand mixer.
