Anyone else's anxiety increasing with the shorter days?

I seem to do fine while the sun is shining, but once it's dark out I'm more vulnerable to anxiety.
It's been hard with the shorter days. Is this common?

Probably, but if it affects your quality of life significantly, see your doctor for seasonal disorder. Perhaps a special light source thingie would help?

I'm more anxious, but it's because a deer ran into my headlights as I was accelerating up the beltway ramp! And because of the mad rush of music practices before the holiday recitals (one or several per kid!).

I think it is not being able to exercise outside. By the time we get home it is dark and I don't feel comfortable exercising in the dark. How I miss my trail runs!

Definitely! I dreaded the clock change for this reason. Winter in general is a very depressing time.

Yes, I experience this ever since I started dealing with depression. I was doing really well until daylight savings, and bam, having a rough time again. You'd think by now I'd see it coming, but it takes me off guard every time and for several weeks I wonder what in the world is wrong with me until I remember that this time of year just sucks for my anxiety and depression.

omg I never noticed a link but YES.

FYI this wake-up light changed my life (and I bought one for each of my kids and it changed our whole morning--our school mornings are a piece of cake now)

btw hate to bring it up but cutting caffeine not down, but OFF (after the withdrawal was over, about 1-2 weeks) really helped my anxiety. I read about it; people are very different genetically in how they process caffeine so it might help.

I also use a seasonal depression light (I got it from Costco) and it's done wonders for me. I recommend it to all my friends.

I definitely have this problem and have for as long as I can remember. Must be a touch of SAD. To combat it, I finally ordered one of those lights. I just tried it out and it felt like it was going to burn out my eyes. It is so bright and I am supposed to bathe my face with its light within 12 inches. They recommend 30-45 minutes a day but I could only tolerate about 10 now and my eyes still hurt. Yikes.
