Hilaria Baldwin - At it again

There has to be a way for them to monetize this and move on. A show like: " I lied about my nationality and (almost) got away with it".

His claim that Hilaria's father's mother is Spanish isn't true, right? I know that somewhere on this thread someone had done a deep dive into both parents' ancestry and had included links to obits, etc. Does anyone know where those receipts are? Would love someone who knows or has the time to fact check Alec's claim from this video!

This explanation from 2014 is clear he knew everything and was fine with it. Don’t see the issue.

But if her father's mother really is/was Spanish, why hasn't she said that in any of her explanations?? I think that is highly likely that it's false, in which case that video of Alec in 2014 either shows him blatantly lying or shows that Hilaria had lied to him about her grandmother and he believed it.

It looks like there is a strong element of Hilaria bold-face lying to trap this man. As that Intragrammer says, why aren't they saying this now. Why isn't HB like, listen I identified really strongly with my abuela?

Because they are lying liars who lie.

And before those of you who are holier than thou (Not holy enough to stop reading this thread apparently) wonder why it matters:
1. it hurts people who are foreign
2. they have profited off of this lie while others are hurt by the truth of not being born american
3. she claims to be AUTHENTIC above all else, it's a bad thing for our culture and society

Argh, why doesn’t she just come clean and let this die?!?! Instead she’s digging the hole deeper and deeper.

No, it sounds like she lied to him about her upbringing. There is no way she spent half of every year in Spain while her parents were working full-time. She did not go to school in Spain for half the year and in the U.S. for the other half of the year. Also, she told him that her paternal grandmother is Spanish. I thought her dad's family had been in the U.S. for a very, very long time?

I think she mimics the accent of someone she knows, don't you? I wonder who it would be. Was her Latin dance partner a Spanish speaker? OH HOLD UP!!! The nannies. You guys!!! It's the nannies whose accents she mimics. OMFG. She's so, so awful. UGH.

She was faking the accent long before she hired any nannies (or had kids, for that matter).

Her father has a degree in Spanish, I think the entire family had an obsession with all things Spanish. Spanish is a relatively easy language to learn for English speaking people anyway. Her family probably spoke Spanish at home because they just wanted to, not because they are Spanish.

Well, Spanish is actually not that easy for an English speaking people at an advanced level. The verb conjugation is much more complex, every single word is masculine or femenine and you have to adjust adverbs and adjectives to this gender. Romance lenguage speakers like frenchs or italians learn it fairly quickly, but english speakers tend to have a lot of minor errors unless they have studied the language for a long time.

It is difficult to tell in this case because her spanish is always very simple... She might be able to speak at an advanced level but she probably knows she could make a mistake that gave her away...

She’s probably been speaking Spanish her entire life, her father may be fluent, she may have had an hispanic nanny growing up. Many nonhispanic Americans are fluent in Spanish, it’s not unique. Spanish is relatively easy, compared to say Russian or any slavic language and many many others. Her Spanish is not perfect, which is why she most likely avoids long convos and interviews in Spanish.

He first said the paternal grandmother and then paternal grandmother’s family. Well, was it the grandmother or the very distant family? All BS.

This vapid ditz is CLEARLY not fluent in Spanish. I’d bet anything she cooked this scheme up with that fraud female restaurantuer who went to jail - the owner of Pure Food and Wine, which is where they were introduced. Alec was a regular there. Alec, sorry pal, it appears you were a mark to these schemers.

Only someone deeply disturbed would double down on their fake Spanish identity after this kind of public reckoning. Just get off social media for a few weeks and come back like you never had an accent! Is that so hard??

Yes. The doubling down reeks of arrogance and privilege. Like, how dare you question me?

Or maybe he really loves his wife and knows she's fragile and quite dim.

If he really loved her, wouldn’t he do the right thing for her and their kids? Gently take her phone away and say ok, let’s enjoy the holidays and our kids and forget about this.

Agree. But then again he’s in showbiz so the love isn’t quite deep in that way. It’s in the lens of narcissist and he views himself.
