Seems there’s an army of bots claiming she speaks Spanish well. No, she doesn’t. Sounds like a kid who took 4 years of Spanish in high school with a decent accent. But it’s just surface level. She’s what Alec would call a ‘pseud’ — everything is surface level trying to impress and trick people. |
Can’t post a generic reply without being a bot, amirite? |
I am a native speaker and she has a good accent. I have only heard her say short simple sentences but with those I bought that she was spanish. She's probably not fluent to speak anything more complicated but she's good with the accent. Most americans who learn spanish in USA have a latin accent, her accent is castellano though. They are quite different. |
It was acceptable because he's an actor. |
Prime example....she was FAKING HER BACKGROUND!! good for Page Six. |
Hilaria Baldwin peddled the fashion brand Zara to her podcast listeners in November — proclaiming with an intermittent Spanish accent that she has loved the label since “before I was in this country.’’ ha |
This is why her fake accent probably sounds a little weird, the way she aspirates her “s”s, unlike what an American native Spanish speaker would do. |
| Interesting how this only broke after the Nov. election, after SNL season ended, and after Alec is no longer needed to lampoon Trump. Perhaps a coincidence but I doubt it. |
| This is a bad 90210 episode. Remember when Brenda pretended to be French? But it all came crashing down when Rick showed up in Beverly Hills. |
Yes! Now this is a comment I can get behind. Love a good 90210 reference. |

Just saw this post on NotSkinnyButNotFat's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CJYxfE5hSFu/
His claim that Hilaria's father's mother is Spanish isn't true, right? I know that somewhere on this thread someone had done a deep dive into both parents' ancestry and had included links to obits, etc. Does anyone know where those receipts are? Would love someone who knows or has the time to fact check Alec's claim from this video! |
Well, Spanish is actually not that easy for an English speaking people at an advanced level. The verb conjugation is much more complex, every single word is masculine or femenine and you have to adjust adverbs and adjectives to this gender. Romance lenguage speakers like frenchs or italians learn it fairly quickly, but english speakers tend to have a lot of minor errors unless they have studied the language for a long time. It is difficult to tell in this case because her spanish is always very simple... She might be able to speak at an advanced level but she probably knows she could make a mistake that gave her away... |
You know seeing all of his actions listed like this makes me wonder if he might not be a high functioning borderline. He has been incredibly emotionally reactive, brings about a lot of chaos and these are just the public incidents. It's really something. |
Hahahahaha!!! Throwing it back even further, Hilaria is as Spanish as George Glass. |
