| I am looking for an entree to make to feed a crowd of about 20 for hanukah party. I think beef with tzimmes would be fun--anyone have a recipe they have used and liked? straight brisket is hard, as last time i did this, the crowd ate through 2 whole briskets very fast. I like the idea of tzimmes with stew meat, so people eat less meat and more veg. |
| I'm not Jewish but celebrate Hanukkah with best friend's family every year. The way we handle it is that you make brisket and then make a ton of sides. Most people want to try a little of everything (or most everything) and so don't eat as much meat. Same idea as the roast with tsimmes but you can use the same recipe as last year. We usually have both sweet potato and white potato (usually one tsimmes an done mashed), latkes with applesauce, a big plate of roast vegetables, chicken paprikash and spaetzel (one of his mother's favorites so she makes it every year--and the rest of us love it, too), steamed broccoli, and one or two new veggie sides each year as people try out different recipes. Believe me, even with a large crowd of around 25 people, two briskets and one chicken dish are enough that we still have lots of leftovers including of the meat dishes. |
In my house, it's turkey for Hanukkah this year
