And how old are your kids?
|
| We dont have one kids are 7 and 8 |
| Do not and kids are 9 and 10. Must confess am considering a Wii but with limited access. |
|
Would love to purchase a Wii for my 8.5 year old, but have vowed to clear out the basement first so that he has space to invite his friends and jump about...
which means we're probably getting one next year

Mine.
5.5 and 8 year old boys. They do, however, play games on the iPad and iphone. We decided against Wii a few years ago because grandparents (in town) and uncle (a few blocks away) have one. This makes them sooooo excited to go over to grandparents for sleepovers and uncle's condo when adults go for drinks. They do have their own Wii games which they carry over in bags. Also-all the neighbor kids have one and they will sometimes play when they are over there. I am really into kids playing outside and off-screen. My boys are REALLY into Legos. The older one wants the $400 Death Star for Xmas and I'd much rather pay for something like that than a game console. He has been building sets for 14+ age for quite some time. I feel game consoles are definitely in our future, but I might as well hold off until they are older. My boys are very into sports too--so I figure when they are older and in travel sports, etc. there won't be much time leftover to play and they will be more rational (hopefully ) to time management with them.
My kids definitely are the type that if they were around it would be a constant struggle to get them off of them...and lots of whining to play them. |

We don't. Kids are 8, 9, and 11. The 11yo plays an online game for about 20 min in the evening. The 8yo is my budding addict and does a few activities off Blackboard--that's all for now. The 9yo, believe it or not, hates computers. It's a struggle to get this DC to even read online, which the kids will need to do for SOLs.
We really don't have time unless you count time in the car. They're all into music so are happy to listen to the radio and talk about the songs, etc. I thought this might hurt the 11yo socially, but it hasn't so far. |
My husband came with an xbox...
|
| DD 9, DS 5. None yet and no plans to get one. |
| 11:03 here. I will add that more than one parents has told me their DC's game console was a Pandora's box they wish they never opened. YMMV. |
We are 45 & 50, no kids, and have a Wii, DS, Playstation, and an old Gamecube....
|
| I'm 38 with a 3 year old. The only game system I ever had was an Atari. My husband had the first Nintendo. Nothing after that, and we plan on being a console free family. |
| 8 and 5 and no game console and no ipad. occasional games on dad's phone . hope never to get one |
|
We only have a Wii (kids are 7.10 and 12) and it barely ever gets used. Will probably give it away. They are far more interested in online games (Minecraft etc) than the Wii.
we only had 'boring' Wii games - sports and similar so maybe that is why it was never a big hit. |
| we don't. 13 |
OP here, thanks for this. It is one of my concerns. I'm not anti-gaming, but really want to delay it as long as possible. |
