I know of one situation... But does it happen?
Two people married to different people fall for each other, divorce their current s/o, and marry each other... |
|
My father and uncle both did it, at very different times in their lives. One is happy, the other is resigned. Both alienated their children from their first marriage.
As the child of such a situation, it would have been better or me if he had dropped dead instead. |

Happens all the time. The weirdest case that I personally know of is that the wife left with the husband's BIL (guy married to husband's sister), and the husband left with wife's sister.
Oh, I always think about them around Thanksgiving, because each couple had several children. How would you like to be at that family's dinner table? |

So wait, are you asking about a situation in which couple A and couple B know each other and husband A marries wife B while husband B marries wife A? If so, I know of no situations there that has happened.
I am about to marry someone who I met when we were both married to other people. We divorced and got together. My ex is not married to his ex, but we are all on friendly terms. |
| Definitely happens a lot. Oddest I've encountered was Wife 1 and Husband 2 having an affair and then Husband 1 and Wife 2 got together. It didn't end well for all parties involved. |

OP here..
I am wondering if in the situation.. If Wife #1 and Husband #2 have successfully became the couple and married.. |
| I just posted ono the "how you found out" forum, but I found out my first husband was cheating on me when the other woman's husband called me. I divorced my first husband, ran into the other woman's husband about a year later and we're married. Our exes have split. |
What a very odd story. I was pissed for you, then happy you found joy, and better yet you both got revenge. You should write a book. |
| Seems like a fun time to have |

Yes, my uncle did this. It destroyed his relationship with his children. He tries desperately to buy their love now. He is still married to his mistress and last year they had a 15 year anniversary vow renewal.
The odd thing is my father told me my uncle didn't want to divorce his wife, but his wife was fed up with the cheating so she left him and he decided to continue on with his mistress. |
after an affair the odds of getting married at 5%, then 60% chance of divorce. But it happens. or do you mean, you are not having an affair and you both are going to divorce before sampling the goods? |

Yep. One of my friends parents used to have very close "couple" friends with whom they vacationed regularly, etc. The dad and the wife of the couple friend somehow fell in love, divorced, and got married. Unbelievably, the family (brothers and sisters) of the wife of the original couple (my friend's mom) remained friends with the former brother-in-law and his new wife, and so the sister is forced to see them socially (not just due to her kids). It's CRAZY! My friend seems to think it's all pretty normal but it's so not!
