What a very odd story.

I was pissed for you, then happy you found joy, and better yet you both got revenge.

You should write a book.

This is the best! I would read this book or watch this movie!

i think there was a movie with a similar theme, where two people were chating on their spouses and they died in a plane crash, and then their spouses got together, something.

I know of a case where a couple got divorced (in a different city) while their kids were in early elementary. The wife soon thereafter married her former father-in-law.

Two people married to different people fall for each other, divorce their current s/o, and marry each other...

Shania Twain?

Had no idea! I'm the PP -- I was a college friend of wife 2.

This happened to my 80 yo. neighbors millions of years ago. The wife told me the story one day when we were visiting. So scandalous! This was in the 50's and she was best friends with his wife. They did everything together as couples. Then one day she decided to leave her husband, she walked over to the other guys house, told him and he said "I love you, lets leave together". They packed up their stuff and her kids (he had none) and they took off to Reno, Nevada. They have been married over 50 yrs.

Where do these low stats of success in a second marriage come from? I'm skeptical. I think many second marriages ... including many successful second marriages ... are born during an unhappy first marriage. But everyone is discrete until after the fact so it is not counted as a marriage that began with an affair.

Shania Twain is a famous example of this

Ha! I've often thought about it. Like I said, I wasn't unhappy in my first marriage. We had "good" times together but sometimes you don't know what you are missing until you find it later. Our story is certainly unusual and one I love to tell new friends after a few glasses of wine
