...then why are so many religious people fat and/or unhealthy?
perhaps matthew should've added a footnote to 19:24? "N.B.: it is easier for a camel to enter an eye of a needle, than for fatties to enter the kingdom of god?...no really, the door is really really narrow people"

| I think there is something in the bible against gluttony, but it gets overlooked in favor of the things against laying with a man and casting your seed upon a stone. |
| judge not, lest ye be judged. |

If all of the scientific research has demonstrated that smoking is really bad for you, why are there so many medical professionals who still smoke?
People make dumb choices and do dumb things. |

Mark 2:17
Jesus says - I do not come for the healthy but for the sick. In the Orthodox Church, God as the Great Physician is emphasized. The Church is a hospital where all may come for healing from what ails them - everything from gluttony to pride. |
Is this lifted from the Republican replacement plan for healthcare? |
What a worthless remark. |
| Sigh. Don't feed the troll. |
| You are talking about the right side of the curve, the truly touched, devout ones. The rest on the left side struggle and fall off the horse all the time. But they believe their faith forgives and will save them. |

was it? it's pretty similar to what ron paul or santorum would say as a healthcare policy for the nation. the sick, poor, or chronically ill can get their healing through the church or charity. providing them access to affordable 'science-y' healthcare is not necessary or feasible. |
It's worthless because the original comment had nothing to do with politics. The pp was trying to say that Christianity is not for perfect people, it's for the rest of us. OP may look at someone and see a fat slob, God looks at that person and sees his amazing, beautiful creation. When I look at my child, I see the most beautiful little girl in the world, with so much potential. When God looks at me, he sees the same. |

indeed, pp was just accusing all 'wrong thinkers' of advocating wrong thinking. the post was smearing, non-fact based, bigoted and yes thus quite worthless. but if one has no standard i suppose it would serve.
