Somewhat but more the heart disease, which compounds the dementia because the heart is not pumping enough oxygen up to the brain.

My dad had both (heart failure and dementia). The ankle swelling could be a symptom of heart failure (low circulation) — which, like PP said, could make dementia worse. Towards thje end of my dad’s life, he was napping throughout the day and would wake up extra early, then nap a hour or so later.
