Weight watchers not working?

Anonymous
lost 4 lbs the first week. Gained 0.5 the second. Now I lost 1 lb this week.

What is happening? I'm not even dipping into my weekly points because I don't go over my daily points.

Are my point allowances too high?

That's normal. Keep at it.

You lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks, it's working!

Losing 1lb/week is the normal rate. Sometimes you gain a pound or two because of hormone, salty food or other things causing water retention. Just keep at it. You will lose.

I like their online journal.

I lost 40+ in the past year and 30 of it during the first 6months...kept at it, though I didn't lose every week. It's working. Don't give up. Plateaus and slow weeks happen to all of us.

And agree w PP sometimes it's just water weight from salty food when you go up a few lbs...

Are you eating all your daily points? That's important to keep your metabolism up.

You will typically have a big loss the first week followed by smaller losses in subsequent weeks. And yes, sometimes it does go up a bit even if you do everything right. Illness, sodium, and hormones can cause this. Try to look at your progress over the month rather than weekly. If you continue not to lose, you should try eating more power foods or use more of your weekly points.

The weight will come off slowly. I lost an average of .5 to 1 pound a week on WW. Maddening but I stuck with it and lost 15 pounds total.

Op here.

I want to lose 20 by December 15 (Wedding).

I guess when I see the weight coming off in increments I want to start eating less. I feel like Im eating heaps of food, but still in my daily points

OP, depending on how much you weigh now, 20 pound loss by December 15 is totally unrealistic. Unless you weigh 200 lbs, it's not going to happen. And as others have said, weight loss is not a steady dramatic progression. It consists of losses and plateaus, which includes small gains. Have a realistic goal in mind. If you weigh 150, you might lose 10-12 more lbs by December 15.

Well that's a little different. When I was at that weight it came off pretty quickly while I counted calories and exercised. Instead of point totals, what do you eat in a given day? What does your 30 minutes of exercise consist of?
