How would you designate the area on the other side of DTR. It's a pretty clear division. Herndon is NOT the closest high school--except maybe to Coates and McNair. Why does that bother you so much? We have our own post office in 20171--just down the street from Carson. |
I never said it bothered me. I just said that it is not new that residents in that area prefer to write down “Oak Hill” as their address. No need to get defensive. BTW, we lived in that area before and did not write Oak Hill as our address, but to each their own. |
Really? Who is defensive now? |
I bet those MVHS families don't want to be redistricted to WestPo with the heathens! |
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. |
To each their own. May all your wishes come true. Have a blessed evening. |
Look at a map and you'll see why Oak Hill is called Oak Hill (also the post office literally designates it as oak hill, that's what my address is frequently corrected to). It's nowhere near Herndon. We are physically closer to Oakton and Reston than we are to Herndon. |
Lady, the post office corrects our address to Oak Hill half the time. |
On the news it is often called, “The Herndon area of Fairfax County”. |
Also, Fox Mill Elementary has a “Herndon” address if you look it up on Google. |
Dp. It is part of the greater Herndon area. When I tell people where I live, I say Herndon. When I write my address, I write Herndon. The post office recognizes us as Oak Hill, however. And we are not part of the town of Herndon, which I assume you know because you lived here? If I want to use the Herndon Community Center, I pay nonresident fees. And I do not use the Town of Herndon's trash services, because they will not service our area. Sometimes we talk as if we are Herndon, and sometimes we do not. In reality life, I have never heard a neighbor refer to this area as Oak Hill, only Herndon. But in a discussion on boundaries, it makes sense to use the local term Oak Hill. Boundaries are divided by neighborhoods and there's a physical divide between the Oakhill part and the Town of Herndon. |
In real life |
Many school systems have done something like this on a temporary basis. |
Dp. Could you explain how this works? |
When I was in second grade--long before any of you were born--my school did shifts. I really don't remember how it worked, except, I think I went in the am. and another group in the p.m. and then mid year we switched. The teachers had to share the room. I wish I could remember more details. I think this could work with high school if you eliminated lunch. |
