Going from Beauvoir to NCS

Anonymous
How competitive is it to get into NCS after leaving Beauvoir? What does the admission group at NCS consider when evaluating applicants?

It used to be almost automatic unless you were a screw up or dumb but now I think it is much less of a feeder

I think NCS takes about 50 girls each year, but I'm not sure how many girls are in Beauvoir's graduating class. We would love for our DD to go to NCS (currently a 2nd grader at Beauvoir) but wonder about the odds. I guess we'll find out next year.

You have a better shot getting in from Beauvoir than anywhere else. NCS rarely takes a chance on schools that don't have big names...a sort of snobbery on their part.

Are you a beauvoir parent???

It is absolutely a leg up. You have to screw up royally not to get in. The Beauvoir admissions director told me that that they try really hard to accomodate beauvoir kids. For instance, if a child does not do well in their test, rather than dismissing that child outright they ask the school for any school work that they can provide to support the child's application. Bear in mind though, that this applies to kids that beauvoir has already given the go-ahead to apply. There are some kids that are advised not to apply because Beauvoir already knows that they are unlikely to make the cut.
